I understand as a perk the explosives jacket protects you against, GLs, RPG, SMAWs, nades. How many fucking explosives can it withstand? Two tubes, and a semtex and the fucker is still alive to shoot me. I mean where is the balance here, I don't get it.

It has increased protection against tubes compared to the others. Other games do that as well. Considering tubes can go boom-boom unlike the others its a good balance. Played with different numbers so its not too much. It both are close, you are dead. If both are at a distance, and maybe obstructed, it depends.

 

Kinda fun dont you think that noob tubers can no longer always get guaranteed kills? Everybody and their play styles needs allow for others fucking with them so it messes them up. If they choose that option instead of some other good stuff. Obviously it works. :happy:

Well tubes aside, two RPGs as well? And at close range? The only time it killed someone with a jacket was when I sit there badzooka on the other players feet. I died too.

No not two rpgs. Rockets use the same functions as grenades to decide whether not a player is hit. Based on distance, obstructions and all the rest damage is decided by the game engine. After all that is done look for the jacket. The remaining damage is reduced to down %35. Which is the value the stock games with the flak jacket uses. RPG accuracy sucks balls which is why I never use it.  I do like the smaw tho.

I am speaking of someone confined in a cubby hole room, and I shoot the bazooka in their corner and they shrug it off, both of them. Still have enough strength left to survive a nade. I mean really?

I dunno. I tend to use it a lot especially when there are a lot of players that use tubes in a particular match. Good protection against those but not godlike. However, not so much against nades and smaws. They get me quite a lot. So I dont know what to tell you.

ok I will record something. I think it's too much protection. Tubes I get it, they can be a nuisance but grenades should kill them.

It works very simply. The game itself calculates damage from grenades using its own internal functions. If the player has the jacket that number is reduced down to %35 of whatever it is. Tubes... only.... are reduced more. I know its cramping your style. But if they want explosive protection instead of bullet protection then that's their bag.

 

Funny enough, to address the (I hate explosives) crowd they actually reduced the number you could have from 2 to 1. That was stupid. Instead I provided the protection option for those that wanted it instead of some other perk.

Well, I was playing shotgun and bazooka combo. I rely on perfect timing of the bazooka to get a kill before the enemy can kilL me. Now when two RPG rockets didnt kill the person then I tossed a sticky. The other player being a tactical non mover aka camper spammed the shit out of me with a SAW. So All I am saying is that maybe maybe the explosives jacket is way too much of a fucking protection. Especially when you contrast with the reduced bullet damage jacket. That thing works for little bit then consistently being shot kills them.

 

It's not about cramping my style. I play them all. I snipe, run around, camp, knife - use all kinds of weapons. So, please stop judging and consider the possibility there is an imbalance here. Is an explosives protection jacket suppose to make you invincible? You only have two for ammo in tubes, RPG, smaw.

This explains why someone survived 2 near misses from my tubes. So I had to pull out my Saw and shoot em the old fashioned way.

Its simple math. The game says 'do 100 points damage'. I say ok but lets reduce down to %35. So 35 points. You are still dead. For clarification, if you are standing on a nade it does 300 points damage when it explodes.

For damage done, yea. For nades its 300 points if at your feet (which is the player origin) down to a minimum of 75 points at 256 units. Outside 256 then no damage. So to the center linear damage starting at 75 on the outer circle up to 300. The closer you are the more damage. Again this is just base damage and doesnt account for obstructions. Actual damage is entirely calculated by the internal game engine taking into account the ground, walls, any trees, rocks, maybe cars. All that stuff. Also how much of the player can actually be 'seen' by the nade. %100? Maybe only above the waist?

 

For those with the jacket the actual range is the same at 256 units but the linear damage will be from 25 to 105 points. Which is %35. The lone exception being tubes with a lower percentage. It operates different from ballistic armor because that one stops ALL bullet damage not just a percentage.

I know plenty... then in theory if I stuck a nade to the person they should die. I hope next time they if they don't, I am sending you the demo. As soon as my demo software stops getting me punkbuster kicks.

Ok I didnt think you meant semtex. There are some workarounds needed to get that to work and follow the player but its still a regular semtex. However if the unstuck ones work fine, but when stuck it doesnt work right, let me know. I have had them stuck to me as well and they get me.

Possible it was set too low in the xi server configs. Default is %35 but might have been %25. Reset to 35. Let me know how it goes. Possible I added it to the configs with the wrong value when I was updating stuff.

 

Anyways.... too bad you left boom. I had to add some quick debug info so I could see what was happening. Hard to get people to run round with rpgs. :P

Sorry, the map was boring, ran off to play BF4, I asked the guys to tell you to ping me on TS. I was hoping when you join me on TS we can resume. Anyways, yes it was a semtex that I threw in that small room and it gave me another X so I was very annoyed by it and figured this can't be right. 

 

I will try it again.

Armor is also way too powerful. Yesterday I was using the P90 and got 5 hit markers on someone (at least a couple of those were head shots) and he didn't die. I mean come on. When people wear armor, the element of surprise is completely negated. You work hard to sneak into the other team's spawn, get behind someone and get 5 hits on them and they are still able to turn around and kill you?? For fuck's sake people...come on.
