Devon 1973 When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A fireman or a Stunt man Where have you lived? Lived my whole life in Mid Devon, UK What got you into gaming? Entertainment Your first game you played? Pong or space invaders And what do you play now? Cod 4 Freezetag Why did you join XI? I joined >XI< when Cod4 was still new, There were many youngsters and hackers that put me off the game. A friend I used to play online with ( @Bobslayer ) found XI and suggested I should try their servers, After a while @T-Rat and the great JohnyDos sponsored me to join. I took being a member of the clan as a big deal and did everything I could to uphold the clan rules on the servers and the forums, For a while life got in the way and before I knew it the forums had changed hosts and my password was reset, Back then you had to log on at least once a month I think. Anyway i lost my tags for not signing in. More recently I was looking for what I had been missing all these years so i asked @Ruggerxiif he would let me rejoin. and being the nice bloke he is he let me back in, So you're stuck with me now..... A Daughter 23, A step daughter 35 from a previous relationship (long story), 3 step daughters with my wife 11, 17 and 23, A stepson with my wife 19. Motorsport and even then I don't follow it, I just like watching it when I get chance What causes are you passionate about? Animal welfare and being kind to others Do you volunteer? If so, where? I voluteer here for a few roles, I also help out on several facebook pages and another forum (Hilux Pickup Owners Club) What is an interesting fact about you? I cut Colin Mcrae out of a car while he was competing in the shell junior rally championship while his dad and my idol Jimmy Mcrae was stood next to me obviously concerned for his son. Colin was only bruised but the car was a bin job. Or my careers advisor told me that I would never be an electrician only for 5 years later I'm rewiring her careers office. Let's just say they didn't have any power throughout the entire job, which was a shame Have you continued your education past college or university with career development seminars or classes? What kind? Yes I have a National craftsman certificate in motor vehicle technology ( a posh way of saying I'm a mechanic) also a qualified electrical engineer, also fire alarms and security alarms Did you know what profession you wanted to work in when you started college? When I left school I was told I couldn't be an electrician (that's what my dad did for the local electricity board) so I tried farming and found I preffered machinery, So went to college to learn mechanics, Just about to get my MOT license and dad was made redundant as the electricity boards were privatised, After a few months I jumped ship and learnt electrics as well Did you belong to any professional organizations? Domestic appliance engineer/Electrician I've taken over the business now and have 3 lads working out of 2 vans on the electrics, I mainly repair appliances unles there is something unique required on the electrical side ( I have a lot of agricultural customers with unique setups lol ) Did you win any awards or recognitions during your education? NVQs mainly and City and guilds Where do you work? The Company is called Dave Totterdell Electrical and a lot of people think I'm called Dave What other job titles have you had in your career? My dad got busy and also had a heart condition, I knew he needed to get his business going as he had a mortgage to pay and the privatisation pulled his nestegg from under him Why do you like your job? I like challenges, I get bored really easy. I like leaving jobs feeling like I've made a small difference in this world How would you describe your career? Eventful and busy Describe a time that your career was rewarding? My team and I have just wired a brand new garden centre. I enjoy going up there and watching others enjoy what has been built If you could give a younger person career advice, what would it be? Don't expect to know what you want to do immediately, Try new things and find something you enjoy and try to excell in it What is your favorite thing about your career or industry? My customers , when they pay on time. I do have some proper characters as customers and I wouldn't want change them What is a valuable lesson you learned in your career?
