Thank you Totty! I was very glad to assist even though I wasn't quite able to prevent it from crashing. Looked at the event logs, fixed some persistent errors but that didn't seem to help. The memory error was obviously not the reason since I checked both the SSD space (plenty) and ran a RAM test to check and fix RAM health. Updated the graphics drivers. Booted in safe mode and tried running COD4 in compatible settings... As @Hatchetman mentioned it could quite probably be a hardware reason. (An error she gets often. I even did the following to prevent it: Registry Editor. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows Media Foundation\Platform. Create/set EnableFrameServerMode registry DWORD to 0. Reboot UPDATE: Installing the cod4x patch fixed it.3 points -

Could be a few things (CPU/GPU overheating, page file too small, corrupt files, driver issues, hardware issues, etc) I second what Hatchetman said, give it a good dusting, if you haven't already. Does it happen in other games? (YES: issue likely with system. NO: uninstall/reinstall CoD) Do you notice stutters/lag when not playing games (like browsing the web, playing music, or videos)? (YES: generally hardware issue (HDD/RAM/CPU) but maybe windows/software issue. NO: possibly driver problem, corrupt directx files, GPU problem, overheating) When playing CoD, do your fans spin up like it's trying to fly away? (YES: possible hardware overheating...double check with temperature monitoring software!* (if needed, clean the PC and/or repaste CPU/GPU). NO: could indicate other hardware/software faults.) What are your PC's specs? Last time thermal paste redone? (if ever, lol)... Usually recommended every 1-3yrs for gaming rigs... depending on level of cooling performance you require and quality of paste, of course. *Normal CPU/GPU temps, at load, are anything up to about 65-75C (up to ~85C for GPUs). Generally, anything above that (for desktop PCs) is "overheating" (assuming no overclock with appropriate cooling). If load is applied and CPU/GPU temp quickly rises to 90-100C, you have a cooling problem.2 points

If the pc is old has it ever been cleaned inside dust etc if fans are clogged as a safety issue it will shut down after it gets too hot. Also if there is no grease now between chip and motherboard you will get it shutting down there are loads of variables really2 points -

Dean, Patches can be found in the Downloads section but here are the links. Install them in this order. There's a patch in the downloads listed as 1.2-1.3 but is not needed so don't install it. Also no need to reboot every time, just install them in order. Patch 1.0117 Patch 1.2 Patch 1.2-1.4 Patch 1.4-1.5 Patch 1.5-1.6 Patch 1.6-1.71 point -

I've heard of reports that that error is a CPU fault. Perhaps is your CPU a 13th or 14th gen Intel?1 point -
Does is ask you to open cod in safe mode? It was asking me to run safe mode every single time I installed but I went to the forums and downloaded a different file and it fixed mine.1 point

I’m not sure how if it’s the same issue or not but Readapht was having the same crash issues. When he came and installed my game he did it a different way than he installed his. When he went back home he installed his again the same way he did mine and it solved his issues. I’ll have him check this post and see if he can help her out.1 point -

Some animals can indeed produce offspring without mating. This fascinating phenomenon is known as parthenogenesis, which translates to “virgin birth” in Greek. Let me explain how it works: Process Overview: In sexual reproduction, an egg cell and a sperm cell combine to create a new organism, each contributing half of the genetic information. In parthenogenesis, the body finds a unique way to compensate for the lack of male genetic contribution. Types of Parthenogenesis: Automixis: In this version of parthenogenesis, an animal merges a polar body (a byproduct of egg production) with an egg. This process slightly shuffles the mother’s genes, resulting in offspring that are similar to the mother but not exact clones. Some sharks exhibit automixis. Apomixis: In apomixis, reproductive cells replicate via mitosis, creating two diploid cells (genetically identical). These offspring are true clones of their parent. Apomixis is more common in plants. Examples: Zebra Shark: Leonie, a zebra shark at Australia’s Reef HQ Aquarium, stunned her keepers in 2016 when three of her eggs hatched into living pups. Reticulated Python: Thelma, a python at Louisville Zoo, laid six eggs that developed into healthy young snakes without ever encountering a male python. Komodo Dragon: Flora, a Komodo dragon at England’s Chester Zoo, achieved a similar feat, puzzling her keepers. Genetic Details: Ovaries produce eggs through a process called meiosis, resulting in haploid cells (containing half the mother’s chromosomes). Parthenogenesis allows animals to create offspring by creatively utilizing these haploid cells, either through automixis or apomixis. In summary, while most animals require mating for reproduction, parthenogenesis provides a remarkable alternative for a select few species, allowing them to have “virgin births” without male involvement1 point -
