Fine fine fine... be technical you Idiot! As to an "all-in-one," that was an SX25 which I bought right when hard drives doubled in size from 40 to 80MB - I remember boasting that one could never fill up an 80MB hard drive. It came with 1MB of memory. I purchased an additional 1MB for the princely sum of $400. Over the years, I have owned at least 20 systems (not including laptops, etc.) half of which I built. Wish I had all that money back. hxtr and simplemod 2 Awards

The strait fifty ran 50mhz bus speed. That means video, memory and other ran faster than even the 486DX4 100mhz. I so wanted one... I have had way to many computers also harry. I just chunked it into the dumpster about 2 years ago. Bought it in 1982 for about $500. It's the first computer I ever connected to other computers, a bbs forum, with a 2400 baud modem. AS far as first IBM compat, that was around 1991. I got a 486SX or something with Windows 3, I think. It sucked and never worked right. Edited May 16, 2012 by Bama Awards

I went online with that in 1985 using a VTX5000 modem (1200/75 - that's 1200bps download and 75bps upload) using mainly the Prestel and Micronet dial-up services. Then I graduated to a manually operated 300/300bps modem and began accessing bulletin boards. My first PC was bought with a view to hosting a BBS - an Amstrad PC3286 (80286 processor, 1MB RAM and 20MB hard drive). The Voice BBS went online in 1992 and ran for about six years as part of Fidonet and other networks using an Amstrad V22bis (2400/2400) modem. (Why "The Voice"? is why...) I have also owned Atari ST and Sony MSX machines and, for geeky interests' sake, ZX81s and an Acorn Atom. hxtr 1 Awards

My first was a 633mhz intel HP with 64mb ram, and onboard video, and 30 gig hdd, with windows ME. My father in law was a pc guru, and I showed it to him in the sale paper and he said that was an awesome deal and that id never fill up that hard drive. We later upgraded the ram to 512mb, and 80 gig hdd and installed win XP on it. It was still running until about 3 years ago or so. Not used, but running. And to think, my Droid X smartphone is twice the powerhouse as my first pc but it only has a 16gig sd card. The amazing thing is the extreme advancement of the last 10 years compared to the 20 years before that. We've REALLY come a long way in this last decade.
