Would welcome alittle help or advise....

.I am currently running I5 4gb ram..windows 7 32bit HD 5850.....1920X1080 monitor.

I am thinking of upgrading the graphics card to either HD 7870 or poss HD 7950 or poss GTX 660ti.....

I have read many benchmarks and they differ in the advise...

I play alot of COD waw....so this already runs pretty maxed out but also I have started to play BF3 again.....

I would like it to run alittle smoother with the graphics set higher...usually run it on low-medium not much AA

Any advise would be welcomed...money is tight so dont wanna overspend if I dont need too.

cheers guys...I have found some benchmarks on the 660ti and for some technical reasons to do with AA or FAA it seems to outperform the 7870 and the 7950 in BF3 but not in others ...weird.....

My personal preferance would be NVidia. I have always used them, and had good luck for the most part. driver issues once in a while, but usually just using an older driver solves the problem until a proper update is released.

I used to go with nVidia but with my latest upgrade, I went with AMD Radeon due to 1) found to be at the time, best bang for my buck as in not break my bank, and 2) a single card can support my 3 monitors which I don't believe nVidia can do even with their latest. It's all personal preference.

I would get a GTX 660 Ti and upgrade your ram to 8GB (ram is soooo cheap these days). BF3 has some Issue when your running ULTRA textures with less than 6GB of ram and especially if you are running Windows 7 32 Bit you are limited to about 3.2GB. You can upgrade your windows to 64 bit for free if you still have your license just download the .iso and put it on a usb key using Windows 7 USB DVD Download tool. You will have to format your hard drive for this procedure.

I would have upgraded the ram but, not sure that I have a license key for windows 7 so I am gonna have to stay on the 32 bit version........I will hopefullt see a great improvement anyways......cheers again

test I ran was Pc Mark vantage....scored 14' date='000 with old card and 20,600 with new card....

so time will tell but I think im getting there...never had this trouble with my old AMD card lol[/quote']

so seems that card is puting alot on stress on system, may need to get faster ram/cpu for your motherboard, will cure some of the stuttering.

what is your spec of system Coolmd

If your last card was an ATI/AMD raedon and you just went Nvidia...you could be having driver conflicts if you didn't clean out all of the Raedon drivers and uninstalling them won't purge them out. try this and see if it helps http://www.afterdawn.com/software/security/system_cleanup/driver_cleaner_pro.cfm

The best way I found to choose a better video card is to go here.

http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=679&card2=667

Any better specs will be highlighted.

He has an Intel chipset so he should be able to use either.

Just a note if you change brands of video cards ie: ati to geforce Use a driver cleaner to completely remove ALL old drivers. If you need help please let me know....
