It will be interesting to see what happens over the next couple years. Here in California it's legal to grow a few plants for personal consumption, and there is little or no penalty for getting caught with small amounts. The medical aspect has been entirely shut down by the feds. We voted for legal medical use years ago, and the feds went after the dispensaries with a vengance and shut all of them down, including all of the growing operations. This even though Obama said before he was elected in 2008 that he would take a hands-off approach to the issue.

The DEA and many law enforcement agencies stand to lose tens of billions in federal funding to fight the drug war. They won't go away quietly, and most of the very powerful politicians are in tight with those agencies. Kick your feet up, light a bowl and watch the fireworks. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

I think we will see many more states, and Provinces up here in Canada come on line with those two... I betting that my home province BC is going to be next... we got an election coming in the spring, and watch who is going to come onside with this whole issue!

It's interesting to note that the government of this country loves to go to war whether it be Viet Nam or Irag or Afghanistan or a drug war. It's also interesting to note that the government has no intention of actually winning any of these wars. If they did they would win sure and swiftly as we have the technology too. It's all about the money and that includes both parties and all involved. This is what pot has been for the war czars of the government a cash cow to fund other part of the so-called war. They have no intention to win as if they did it would be over in a matter of just weeks not yrs! I think they have no just reason to not remove it from the list of drugs they target other than it feeds the cash flow! They are not interested in protecting the citizens but their livelihoods! Enjoy your bowl and pass it around! :)

It will be interesting to see what the ramifications are on workforce law--ie mandatory drug testing. With MJ being legal, can companies still fire you or not hire you for testing positive?

Legal or not, employers won't tolerate stoned employees and the testing will continue. Over the years I had to fire a couple people for being drunk on the job, and alcohol is perfectly legal.

Sounds right to me Dean, but what the little old man says is also correct and makes sense.Let's face it you don't want a doctor actually doing some surgery on you and he is all buzzed up.So you have to be straight at work, you'd think.

I for one support legalization of marijuana even though I have never tried it. Personally I do not think it is any worse than alcohol which I do try.

The legalization of pot in the states of Washington and Colorado is only the beginning of what proponents of legalization wanted. Federal Law takes precedent but now the door is open to contest Federal Laws in the courts from a much stronger position. Exactly what the proponents wanted. This will probably eventually go before the Supreme Court of the US with legalization in a much stronger position.

Legalization of marijuana would be a windfall in money for both Federal and State government. Law enforcement costs drops, violence related to traffickers drops and income from taxes will rocket up. We are talking Billions here. IMHO a Win - Win situation for all.

FYI if anyone is interested in my financial meanderings I just bought stock in Medical Marijuana Inc. Only a pittance mind you, 650 shares at $0.13 per share for a grand total of about $78.00. Hardly as much as a nice dinner out for myself and a guest. I had that money sitting and wasting away in a money market in my IRA so I decided to play with it. Do not take this as an endorsement of the stock.

Agree, if the US wants to get out of debt, this is the best way. Old George Washington saved us with a "Whiskey Tax", Lets have a "Hemp Tax"

For the starter: P

What do you need to "WEED" to cultivate

Care initially for a confined space. For example, 5 plants is a cabinet of a meter by one meter is sufficient. You can get a meter a lot more lost but keep this in mind that they also have less space to become great. If you have a whole room, we recommend you use no more than 16 plants at 1 meter turn. The more plants per meter you drop the less room they have to develop.

If you are going for a closet where you will grow here are ready-made cabinets for sale in different sizes. On this site we (in our opinion) the best closet with the most potential for yield per plant. We find ourselves that you should cut down on the box and the material. This way you have the most high yield and earn the closet after 1x grow back.

What do you need for a grow room?

400 or 600 watt lamp (s) Often 2nd hand and / or newly available from a grow shop or course through this site. We recommend starting growers begin with 400 watt lamp (s). Depending on the amount of plants you use 1 or more.

Temperature

The optimum temperature of the lamps is between 20 to 32 degrees and with the lights up to 10 degrees difference. Below 15 degrees stops (growth) process and you will see that you are breeding a lot less prosperous will go.

Additional heating

When you grow in an area where the temperature can be then you may need additional heat. If at some point too cold (below 15 degrees) that is probably when the lights are off. Preheat than in the same period by using a heater or similar up to about the optimal temperature. Let the stove go out again when the lights go on otherwise it can quickly become too hot. It is a waste of power.

An extractor / Snail fan with carbon filter (s)

Ensure that the space you use is not too close to other people in the area who sound and / or air can absorb. Despite tolerance policy may happen that a neighbor find annoying sound or smell of the plants less tasty than you think. Then do the police once when you are on the doorstep. Do this so be careful!

Always use a hood (snail fan) with carbon filters to prevent odor nuisance arises. The extraction also ensures that it is not too hot in the closet. This can be automatically set by using a fan controller. Here is a temperature gauge connected to the collector leaves blowing harder when the temperature becomes too high. Also let the fan controller pipe fan blowing harder.

When buying an extractor and inspirer of the suction volume you need. In a large room, you (logical course) can suck more than a small closet. Let you inform the growshop in your area.

An insufflator / Tube fan

This blows cool / fresh air from outside the cabinet inside. For supply of fresh air and movement of the plants. This gives them their strength and they get this good solid tops.

Timer (s) or switchbox

The lamps must be set to time out and go. During the growth period is usually 18 hours per day (6 hours). The flowering period is 12 hours a day.

Irrigation / Circulators

If you're going to grow more plants is very easy if you use a watering system. Optionally, you can connect it to a timer so the plants to get water by means of a submersible pump. Growers usually use circulators can keep the water in motion. This is good for the oxygen in the water.

Heater

When you have the water in a reservoir, the water quickly too cold. You can use a heating element you use in the water used. If the water is too cold, the plants can "scare" and stops the growth process.

Socket connectors with sufficient (at least 4 if you 1 lamp)

The whole course must be current. It would be ideal (especially with more lights) to a separate group, but basically you all (assuming 1 lamp) on 1 socket lost. In our example, a closet switch box that controls everything for you. The only thing you should do is the right plug in the correct plugs and cabinet handles the rest.

Pot

Depending on the number of plants you have the same number of pots needed. Also available here at a grow shop.

Earth

Fill your pots with soil. Stamp the earth in the pots too hard because the roots of the plants should easily through the earth nesting. Do not compromise on the earth. The soil pH should be neutral and it's this much trouble to himself together. Just buy good soil in a grow shop.

Insulation material

Make sure that your space is minimal light-tight. When light from outside is passed as the lights are going wrong. Test this by all the lights in the room or cabinet to sit down and close the gaps where light comes through. The light from the outside impeded the growth of the plant. Moreover, in the evening a large beam coming out, so you want to be, too. For best effect you should make sure that the walls of the box are white or coated with a light-reflecting foil.

Fasteners / Brackets

You may want the extractor and inspirer near hanging plants. The lamps should (preferably adjustable in height) above the plants are suspended.

JohnnyQuests' and Hans' posts are perfect examples of why the feds don't want it legal. They can't tax something that anybody can grow in a little corner of their home. The feds will lose access to all of those billions of dollars in tax money they currently steal to fight the drug war, and the prision system will lose billions they currently get paid to keep all of those drug offenders in prision. For them, keeping pot illegal is like a cash cow of unlimited money that will vanish overnight if it becomes legal, and powerful politicians that also make money from it will fight legalization until the bitter end.

in Canada it is different...not such a big deal....after all its just weeds...not that other junk...and especially booze...never hear of a pot smoker driving out and killing people in a car...its just a matter of taste...if you grew up with it.its peanuts...and we don't have feds here.and are allowed twelve plants from one end of the country to the other....maybe those feds should concentrate all that cash towards their homeless and vets coming home from war....don't we still have moonshiners around...how about those tax free fuckers....One of your great forefathers put a whiskey tax on the booze to make some cash....maybe obamma should tax it....i believe that it is used to make shoes..shirts rope..for hanging the crack dealers and hard drug criminals that would rob their grandmothers for the next hit...ive been smoking herbs for 40 plus years and i have never had the urge to branch off into other forms of escaping reality..even my Grandfather is all for it...oh well to each his own

1. Legalize it.

2. Tax it.

3. End the Billions spent on the war on drugs.

4. Pay the politicians huge bonus for being so smart.

From Kiro 7 news

SEATTLE —

Prosecutors in King and Pierce counties announced Friday that they are dropping pending cases of marijuana possession after state voters legalized the drug in Tuesday's election.

King County prosecutor Dan Satterberg said his decision affects 175 misdemeanor cases.

"Although the effective date of I-502 is not until December 6, there is no point in continuing to seek criminal penalties for conduct that will be legal next month," Satterberg said.

Later Friday afternoon, the King County Sheriff's Office said deputies will no longer be directed to arrest or charge people caught with one ounce or less of marijuana.

"Now that the initiative has passed, and now that the Prosecutor’s Office won't be charging the individuals, we will also not focus on behavior that will be legal under Washington State law after Dec. 6," said King County Sheriff Steve Strachan.

The sheriff's office said the decision only affects deputies working in unincorporated King County; the 12 municipalities it contracts with for police services will make their own decisions.
