When I moved to California in 1977 from southern Ohio, the winter of 76-77 there was well below zero for several weeks and it had never been like that before in my lifetime. That same winter California was experiencing their third winter of drought, and it's all the same weather we're all experiencing this year. The pattern repeats itself every 10-20 years. It may last another year or or two and it may end in a few weeks. There just isn't any way to tell for sure. It all has with warmer than usual ocean waters near the equator.
