My favorite was a CoDWaW custom mod clan. We had a hard time filling up the server so we'd play elsewhere. Which made expansion impossible. I took some time off then when I came back the CoDWaW division was gone. Only like four people from the division were left in the clan aside from me. The clan is still around but phasing out. There wasn't any drama and I believe we had a good leader. Too bad the clan spread themselves thin opened up a bunch of divisions in newer games.

My most hated former clan was one I formed, lol. It was called Advanced Tactical Squadron =[ATS]=. Although I had managerial experience in a previous video game clan I made some blunders.

1) Didn't get a good website for the clan

2) Had too large of a ranking hierarchy. Used Military Ranks.

3) Recruited too aggressively, open entrance into ATS.

4) Could have picked more experienced second leader.

5) We played Call of Duty, which was still old at the time.

6) Allowed 100% of the financial burden to be placed on me. ex: game server costs.

ATS is defunct btw.

Please leave clan name anonymous if there are still around, don't want to advertise for other clans. Might be a good idea to leave leaders/admins names anonymous when talking about the former clan(s).

Well put, advertising other clans on the website and in the servers is a no no.

I started PC gaming when I was about 12 ish 2002... Cod 1 had just came out and I was playing that and soldier of fortune 2 double helix. I was in a clan called -=xXx=- and I met a couple, camptastic an chic and they nearly taught me everything I know. Fun times :)

XI simply put is the best damn clan out there. I've visited the web sites of other clans and played on some of their servers. Most are a joke compared to what has been built under the XI logo.  If you want to play with a bunch of kids that could care less about hacking, there are plenty of those servers and clans out there. If you want to play fairly like adults, there is no place better than right here.

Who the clan truly is, happens to decide whether they are great or not. Sure if they have a nice server with custom maps and stuff that's a plus. But if they are not ran properly then they go down the toilet. The many deciding factor is who are they recruiting. If the incoming new regime is a bunch of drama queens then the clan is screwed.

Then you have to give Rugger lots of credit. He almost gave up a few times but his leadership even if he's a fucking Idiot has done this clan a world of good over the years.

Plus the support from many Admins that have put enormous amount of time in keeping everything running modding server, making maps, supporting users and being general pains in the ass in very interesting ways. lol

It takes a team to pull this off for this long. But it takes a leader that knows how to defuse drama even if at times it was not the perceived as the right outcome. If it was not right.. then this clan would have dissolved years ago.

UT was a great game.... I still play it. Amazing server still exist. I just installed Quake III. I have someone to teach how to play FPS games.

Quake III was the shit. It is why I jump as much as I do. I don't play good standing still. I must always be moving.

My first clan is longer around.  We had a server where we would run COD MW 4 Overgrown map 24/7. We had 20 min rounds. The fun thing about it was we had team kills. So no spray and pray. Team mates got pretty pissed if you kept killing them. You would have to warn team mates to run when you called an airstrike. It was a good set up and we had a lot of people in our servers. However, they guys running the clan got board and went on to other things. I miss the team kills. Once in a while we would change the gravity for a round so you could jump 40 or 50 feet at a time. Kind of fun once in a while and hilarious to watch.

My first Clan was Dogs Of War, DoW..  I was in  it about almost twenty years ago and was in through al the Quake games and Ureal.. Even did some Red fraction..  Quake days of Ctf were the best days imo!!  We used to have Lan parties all the time.. One of the members was a  good map maker and we play some of his maps even on our server.. Easybeat,  After that took a break from clans all together and just roamed .. Then found Mayhem and some of you know some of those members well.. It was a blast and to this day have never had as much fun as I did then... Still to this day have some of the members on Fb ,We were a big Clan with Matches and scrims. It was fun, Due to some internal beefs the clan has fallen apart and really isn't doing much these days, Shame too.. And now I am here.. Been a great wild ride all the way!!! :)

I was a member of a BBS when Doom came out. We would get almost everyone on the BBS and have parties and many Lan parties. Nothing but Mountain Dew and Dr. Pepper all damn night for them Lan parties. What a blast.. Duke Nukem, Doom, Doom 2, Heretic, Hexen and some others like CnC and Warcraft 1.

We were a clan in many ways. Many still my friends till this day.

TheSinBin in Baltimore Maryland.

Here was the Rugger of the group. Taz or Todd. Believe it or not Taz played Doom II with John Carmack over a modem in 94.

Ah the good old days. I remember epic battles of C&C.. my strategy was APC's full of grenadiers unload them all and attack the base, and then sneak my single APC full of engineers round back and take over the buildings that my grenadiers didnt destroy. lol

I used to play DOOR games back in the late 80s early 90s on bbs's too. Trade Wars 2002 was my favorite.

In that game you could form "Corporations" with other players.. and you have alignments and if you were super evil you could not go into federation space or you would be attacked on site. me and my bro had the most evil corporation, and learned if you blocked certain sectors on your navigation sometimes you could find "backdoors" to deadend sectors that are only supposed to have one entrance. people would fill the sector outside their home planets sector with mines and space depris as a defense from getting attacked I'm not sure if the "Backdoor" thing was a glitch, but me and my bro caused so much grief doing that and destroying the other players home planets. one time we took out the SysOp's moms home sector and 3 planets, and her whole fleet of 5 ships... She made her son roll back the game to the previous day. hahaha.

you may appreciate this song if you have never heard it @@hxtr

@@mouselad you know exactly what I am talking about. So if you think about it.. we were member of a clan way before it became cool. We had 8 lines to Taz's house and it stayed busy most of the time. 2 lines per PC total of 4. It was bad ass.

My first BBS access.. 1986. I would spend all night downloading files on my C64. Of course without error correction... so it took all damn night to download something. hahaha

Shit back then was way harder to learn how to do things compared to today. You had nobody to ask a questions that had a fucking clue what you were talking about. Now you just ask that fucker Google. He knows everything.

Also have you seen this?

Some parts are a bit dry, but overall it is a good watch

I think there are 6 parts. not sure.
