Hey Sammy,

 

IS there anyway we could throw Trip Wires (COD 2 style) into the new mod and remove one of the other perks?  Just a thought.  But over all the new server seems a lot more stable than the other mw2 ft server.  Great work mate.

I second that if we could just replace the betties with it, and on a side note, there is a glitch that if I press my kill streak button to fast it will pull a claymore out plant it and then use my streak even if I don't have claymores as a perk lol

A claymore? That is weird. Did it actually plant one? What was the streak assigned to the button at the time? I dont know what the trip wire thing is but it sounds not too different than the typical laser trip for claymores for functionality. For thermal make sure you have a keybind set for it. I know it works for streaks but lately havent tried with snipers.

 

There is a change coming in the next few days. Everything currently from perk 1 (explosives, launchers, 3X etc) will go into its own category. The same rules for grips, smoke nades and the like apply. Everything from perk 2-3 will be disributed to fill all three. Thus far there are three categories: weapon proficiencies (steady aim, stopping power etc), abilities (lightweight etc), and equipment (hacker, tacmask). Which catergories the perks are going into is up to me so no complaints. :devil:

I have seen that from time to time. I dont know why it does that. Except perhaps it might be related to whether or not you have another streak. Anyways, this is how the perks will be distributed.

I saw it happen but not sure why yet. Timing issue somewhere. In any case the planted claymore is there for looks. It has no functions for the laser trip nor can you shoot it.

Ok uploaded. Some fairly substantial changes so please be on the lookout for issues.

 

First and foremost, everything from perk 1... from v146... moved to a new category called 'inventory'. It has all explosives like rpg and c4, the two 3X options, and the crossbow. The grip and smoke nade lockouts will apply to this category instead of perk 1. Perks 2 and 3 have been distributed among all three as in the post above.

 

Two additions and minor changes.

 

Perk 2 has 'commando'. Which allows a bigger melee range and also no fall damage. The no fall was moved from lightweight so that one is double sprint and faster pace. The current melee range benefit is double but that is too much. Just for testing.

 

Perk 3 has 'gambler'. Choosing this option will pick a random perk among all three categories. Not including the two already chosen. Odds are that you will get another random perk 1 or 2 but this is not guaranteed.

 

The distribution is not set yet so things are subject to change. Since the changes also affect player profiles, due to the new option and resorted perks, the older one will not work right. Perk 1 only has five options and I would like to increase that to six. You will notice a missing option in the perk 1 popup menu. Either by moving one of the others or coming up with something new that is allowed under game limitations. Not much left in terms of weapon proficiencies but still looking into it.

 

To help solve the streak activation problem there is a minor control lockout for 1/2 a second while the pad or cellphone animation raises. This hopefully prevents quick switching or button mashing. Unless you are moving while using the cellphone you wont notice it. Using the pad always freezes you anyways. I didnt have the opportunity to test every weapon so if anything 'cancels' please tell me which weapon so I can adjust the timing. The spas was giving me some trouble but seems to be ok now.

Uploaded a couple hotfixes to take care of the non-freezing player problem. Also, Scavenger was giving too many M32 rounds on bag pickups.

I like the "gambler" option for perk #3. Is there any way to create the similar option to have a totally random setup for everything? (guns and all perks) I would enjoy playing that way every now and again.

Totally totally? For everything? That could be interesting. Im sure its possible as an 11th button in the cac menu. Seen something like that done for bots so they arent the same thing every time. But I think their options were limited so the various special cases, like grips, werent allowed to keep things from getting too complicated. But it might be better in a 'gungame' type of thing where everything is totally random.

 

And thank you for testing it out to make sure nothing went boom.

It's all there. But the console says quite a few redirects failed of different things. Including maps. So I dont know.

Been testing out the separated types of armor (bullet and explosive) and I think I like it better. Current body armor will stay the same for bullet weapons. I could do the old way (juggy) and just decrease damage by a certain percentage, typically -40 percent, and whatever remains would be applied to health. However it wont protect against explosives.  Bandages would be more useful. I read through the different games with the flak jacket and all after cod5 seem to be consistent with a %65 damage reduction (so %35 of full) for softcore games and eighty percent (%20 of full) for HC. So very good protection against explosives. Including streak explosives. So in ways a good anti-streak weapon except bullet weapons like helicopters and sentryguns. And of course Duke with his minigun.

 

I hate the auto smilies. They mess up the % values.

I'm having even more trouble with the armor, it feels the same, I hit someone with at least half a clip and they still kill me, no matter the distance, also having a problem with hitting people even more now.  For example I shot syckle this afternoon 9 times in the back with an m16 point blank from hip fire, I was close enough to knife him and kill him but he turned around and killed me no problem.  Lastly everyone is playing with fucking tubes now, I mean everyone, just left the server not 3 minutes ago from having 7-8 deaths from all tubes, and I mean every death I had were tubes and I heard them coming from everywhere, I know anything goes in our servers but fuck when everyone has a god damn tube launcher and they're so easy to use it's ridiculous.
