Heya,

Since a few weeks i have a flickering screen when starting up my pc. In the beginning, the flickering would stop after a few minutes and my screen was just fine. Lately it takes way longer for the screen to be normal again, around 30 minutes or so. I checked if the screen is broken, it isn't. It's also set to the right refresh rate (60). I do have one freaking old video card (NVDIA GTX 770) so that might have something to do with it. I Googled all possible solutions except for one, which is to completely remove the 'stearing programme' (if thats what its called in English), which means my video card I think, and then restart pc and reinstall the video card. Afraid that it might break or will stop from working I thought I'd ask here first for some easier solutions or people who dealt with this before.

When my screen is only put in an outlet and not connected with my pc, the screen is just fine and isn't flickering, so I really think it has something to do with the pc.

Any help is appreciated

Sounds to me like some component beginning to break down, probably on the video card but may be the m'brd, I know you say it is ok with other things but on the principle of trying the easy thing first try it with a different cable, and stop watching porn.

So is it flickering on then off and back to on ? Or is it flickering off then on and back to off ?  I suppose either way your monitor is going bad. Once it warms up it seems to run ok but as you can see its taking longer and longer for that to happen. The test here is try another monitor and keep watching porn robnmac just jealous he has nothing to do when he watches porn

@SourtapYou can try plugging the monitor into another computer or laptop, this way if it does the same you will know its the monitor. If not its a computer component.

If your motherboard has a built in gpu then try that and remove your current gpu so it just plugs into the mobo and see if it still flickers that will give you a good idea what it is right away.

I have to agree with @RobMc sounds to me like the video card could be on its way to the grave! This happened to me with one of my last video cards it would flicker then it would be good then all of the sudden Anomalies would happen and it would freeze the computer. Bought another one and it worked perfect no more issues...

I took my pc apart to clean it just about a month ago and after I put everything back together I had same issue with flickering. I was like wtf. It turned out that the power cord cord at the back was in loose and as soon as I put it in tight the flickering stopped.

Turned out pc worked fine on other screens, so probably monitor dying after 9 years of hard labour, seeing things no innocent monitor should ever see, so it did its job. Ordered a new monitor which should be arriving tomorrow. Hope that fixes it!

What you can do is take out the GPU cart blow some clean air into the slot and check the GPU cart if it is dirty and not broken like this picture show.
Clean up the gold connectors use alcohol 80% or 96% and use some ear cotton swab to clean it up

Good luck
