Hi All, I'm sure there are a number of you that have more PC knowledge in your nose picking finger than I have in my whole body so here goes! I was told a RTX 3060 GPU would work but having installed it I just get a blank screen. It fires up and lights up but thats about it,

I've tried it in another PC  and it works in that, slightly better specs than mine but not much. Any ideas, failing having to buy a new PC i could try upgrading my card to one that would work, I think mine is beginning to fail.

Many thanks in advance

My PC windows 10

Is your monitor connection to your PC the same? ie. HDMI, displayport, etc?

Your going from AMD GPU to Nvidia... Did you uninstall the AMD drivers and then install the latest Nvidia drivers?

thanks for the reply

yes connection is the same and I uninstalled the amd drivers but then....did I install the nvidea ones, I think I had a problem there, I couldn't pre install them because it didn't detect the relevant GPU and obviously when I had the GPU installed I only had a blank screen

On board graphics should provide imaging in the interim...

That card has 2 power cables I believe.

As @Timmah! stated your onboard graphics should have kicked in. Unplug the card and see if you motherboard graphics works works.
you may have some NVIDEA drivers screwed up from your earlier attempt. Look for them them and uninstall them if need be. Then reinstall the card and try again

If still a blank screen after trying the above, plug your monitor into the onboard dvi or hdmi, not the card, this will then use the standard video drivers. leave the card in, then proceed to try and install the drivers for the card.

When switching vendors for graphics , I use Display Driver Uninstaller. Program will block windows from installing drivers after uninstall and shut down the pc after uninstall. You can restart and install Nvidia drivers clean.

Yup, the Nvidea download tool does a system sweep then tells me i have no Nvidea card installed so won't download the drivers. I think I'll just have to resign myself to the fact that my system comes up as 'woeful' for gaming and unless I find a better GPU for my system will have to wait until I have the funds for new components

So, don't use the download tool.

Manually download it.

As @Timmah! said, just download manually and install.

Based on the info you noted to start, this is the search result for the driver you need.

Do you get BIOS display with the new card?

If no display at BIOS --> Since the 3060 worked in another system, it's likely a BIOS issue. Reinstall the 3060, clear CMOS, power on, and should be good to go!

Where did you get the card from?  If all the connections to card to the monitor are the same you should be able to boot to the BIOS a no drivers are needed.  If you can't it could be a bad card or the monitor input selector is on the wrong setting.

BIOS could be setup for onboard video or on CPU video.

NOTE: you need to know your the motherboard Revision # before you do any firmware update to BIOS

look for on MB for Rev.X.XX     will tell you what one have  you have 2 options for are 2 revisions made to your model number Rev.1.0 and Rev.1.1

also this MB not support the full use of your 3060 is PCI-e Ver3  and MB is only PCi-e Ver2

image.thumb.png.8b35dea898dd774ab092d0a05627d78e.png

reason for that MB may use a  chevy motor or ford motor  meaning that are different and not  interechangable for the instructions for chip venders are not same.

EG. if done wrong firmware used will get a blank screen or i/o functions not working due to wrong instruction.

There you go, thanks, I thought this might have been the problem but I was told they were pci-e ver 3. Maybe I'll just have to pay out for a new mb and cpu

Pci-e 3 and pci-e 2 slots are backwards compatible. Card will work in a pci-e 2 slot but at pci-e 2 speeds. I have a pci-e 3 card running on a pci-e 2 motherboard with no problems. The card will just not reach it’s full rated speeds.
