From Rolla, Missouri to Springfield, Illinois it was blinding sheets of rain. High winds pounded the water sideways. Seeing the pix of RT19 was heart breaking. That was our scenic ride back from St. Petersburg. Don't envy the cleanup & loss.

It is sad to see people lose precious items that are sentimental or family historic stuff and much more, their transportation that they probably highly depend to get to work or appointments n etc or their computers damaged because they maybe work from home n etc. Most of all lives who were lost from damages or drowned or unable to leave because of whatever reasons is heartbreaking the most.

Hopefully those who we know is not lost or homeless or so in the most damaged and dangerous areas.

Yes, it is horrible what has happened to little towns around East Tennessee, Western N and S Carolina, as well as Florida.  Climate change (the warmer the earth the bigger the storms, the worse the droughts, the larger the snow storms, more widespread forest fires, etc.) is happening.  We (humans civilization time frame) were living in what I would call the goldilocks time... just the right temperatures for humans to thrive.  I think that if we prepare for these changes we can adapt, humans are great at adapting.  So when a town has to rebuild, hopefully they learned to not build in a flood zone, to build UP, to fireproof buildings on and on and on.  Simple solutions like --> Elevate your home: Raising your home above the base flood elevation can protect it from flooding in areas prone to rising sea levels and storm surges. Reinforce your roof: Installing hurricane straps or clips, sealing roof decks, and using wind-resistant shingles can help protect your home from high winds and storms.

Best advice I can give is for everyone to have insurance... If you live in a flood zone you must have flood insurance.

As for everyone suffering from Helene Hurricane, bless you all, I hope help comes quickly.  :hi:
