I am sure most of you have seen photos of the Aurora Borealis last night.

I drug my wife out to Sky Meadows State Park to get away from all the light pollution.

We froze our butts off (left our coats at home, duh) but it was totally worth it.

It was really bright here in the mountains of south central PA. It was a Cold damp night with plenty of ice crystals in the air. Actually had to put a coat on for the 1st time this fall all ready.

Neighbor took these pics from the orchards above us on the ridge. Apple phone camera set on night mode.

It shifted 6.5 inches during the 9.0 earthquake that off the coast of Japan back in 2011.

Climate shift is a real thing, climate change, not so much. These boneheads keep fucking with cloud seeding and it throws our natural weather patterns out of whack all around the world. Remember learning about Actions and Equal Reactions in school? Maybe they quit teaching common sense in schools. lol

Kinda worrisome that we have been getting hit with so many geomagnetic storms over the last few years. The next one is supposed to hit the earth on the 17th which is this Thursday morning and mid-afternoon Eastern Standard Time.

About the North pole switching to the South pole, and the South pole switching to the North pole...

The pole shift hypothesis describes a change in location of these poles with respect to the underlying surface – a phenomenon distinct from the changes in axial orientation with respect to the plane of the ecliptic that are caused by precession and nutation, and is an amplified event of a true polar wander.

When was the last Earth pole shift?
around 780,000 years ago
During a pole reversal, Earth's magnetic north and south poles swap locations. This happens on average every 300,000 years or so, but the last flip occurred around 780,000 years ago, according to NASA.Jul 3, 2023

Are we due for a magnetic reversal?
Reversal of the Earth's Magnetic Field: What Does It Mean For ...

We may be due for another reversal in the next few thousand years, because it has been 780 thousand years since the last reversal, because the Earth's magnetic field is weakening, and because there are strange patterns in the south Atlantic that suggest dramatic local changes in the magnetic field are taking place.

but wait there is more....

Geological records suggest that in Earth’s long history, hundreds of magnetic pole reversals have occurred, with the last one, known as the Brunhes-Matuyama, happening roughly 780,000 years ago.

Many scientists believe that we are in the early stages of the next one, which will occur when the iron atoms in Earth’s liquid outer core become reverse-aligned in such a quantity that they dominate the rest of the core’s atoms. Reverse-alignment happens in patches and spreads, with the fastest growing patch currently residing underneath Brazil and the South Atlantic ocean.

Potential Magnetic Pole Reversal Effects on Humans

What are the potential outcomes of swapped North and South Poles? Compass needles would be wrong, and animals that use Earth's magnetic field for navigation — such as birds, salmon, sea turtles, whales and butterflies — could get temporarily disoriented, according to National Geographic.

Mitchell warns that a reversal could destroy anything electronic, including home appliances, satellites, wireless devices and the electric grids that make all these items work.

In an essay on Undark.org, Mitchell wrote, "We have blithely built our civilization's critical infrastructure during a time when the planet's magnetic field was relatively strong, not accounting for the field's bent for anarchy."

What about magnetic pole reversal effects on humans?

With a weak electromagnetic field, radiation from space could possibly make some regions of Earth uninhabitable and cause entire species to go extinct. But first, according to Mitchell, we would have problems with sensitive orbiting satellites, which control electric grids and could cause "a domino run of blackouts that could last for decades."
