I've had AMD since the first athlons....never had a problem, very overclockable...Most prefer intel for things like video editing and such.

Me too.I like my amd's Only had 1 intel and that was in a 200pentium.Now for the last 3 PC's all AMD.The last 1 was a duo 3.2 ghz and now I have a quad 3.2 ghz AMD.Both were black edition and both were overclockable.Plus they are cheaper.

As I have heard AMD's Phenom 2 is beat by Intels I5 easily in almost all matters of processing. Right now I think Intel has the biggest card but if you are on a budget for cards I would suggest AMD. Intel really is for the maximum processing that you can get. Intel may be a little expensive but it sure does work if you know how to make it work :D. Although I have no experience with AMD and Intel cards myself. If I had a job I would buy myself some Intel I7 and overclock it to 4.0. but that is just me.

But always remember the ram! If you do things like video and stuff its not just the processor, ram makes a big difference although not always gamer-wise. I have 3 gigs of 1333MHZ core clocked DDR3. I get awesome gaming with it and can work in Cryengine and it only takes up about 1.5 to 2 gigs.

Basicly. Power-Intel

            Affordability at a minimum power-AMD.

but you never know I could be totally wrong and got this whole thing backwards and teleported to Canada. But that is for the experts to decide :P

Realistically with the advanced speeds of everything WE can't take advantage of it. So it boils down to which games you play, future games, and personal taste.

I've used both on multiple computers and had no failures except for ID10T errors.

I have been building computers for myself with AMD ever since the 586 66 came out...try to figure how many years that was in the past :) but I also build computers for business (engineering computers and servers) they have been all Intel processors.

I think Intel has the faster processors right now for a few dollars more than the AMDs

I can also tell you that I would build myself a computer every year for the last 12 to 15 years until this one that I been running for 2 years and it is still not that bad. AMD Phenom 9950 quad core 2.6 GHz with 4 GB RAM.

It still holds its own, I think with a new Graphics card I would be happy for another year or two....Oh my God..did that come out of my mouth!!! not buy more hardware.....I think I gotta lay down

Folks,

IMHO, right now the best gaming CPU is the Intel I5 750/760...it's faster than AMD X965 and X6 1055T...we're talking about the $200 price-point.

If gaming is NOT your main use for the rig, and you want to do a LOT of processing like 3Dstudiomax, professinal aps and stuff, the 6-core AMDs are great...

I prefer a 95Watts I5 760 than a X4/X6 at 125Watts...

All in all, the difference between AMD and Intel might be noticeable only in benchmarks...what matters most is the GFX card!!!

It depends on your budget imo.

I always had AMD, but I noticed that the Intels were quicker as in loading games and such.

The Intel's are easyer to overclock lol mine from 2,4 to 3.7Ghz stable. The new Intel with "K" behind them are now mulitplayer unlocked, what AMD is doing for years.

Again, depends on your budget.
