Bloody Spectators...again!

I know I have had this rant before, but FFS, yet again this morning, deperate to have a good game but only one other on line...yes SPECTATING, name of Frankly9000. Over an hour just sitting watching, and I know he wasn't away from keyboard as once he did start to join, then went back to spectate, I mean, what's the bloody point .

Speccing like that only really gets to be a problem when the server is full Mick, ie taking up spaces when people want to be in, but i agree sometimes you wonder what they are up to.

so just two of you in the server and he was in spectating?is that right?well maybe the one other was waiting for others to fill the server like I would.why wait in an empty server when life goes on and i could get someting accomplished near by -like doing the dishes /cooking a meal for myself or family/ a bathroom run. then when i hear action sit back down and play..

for some reason thats all he's been doing , not playing at all, I have kicked him a few times when the server was or almost full, Sometimes he just logs back on, but still doesn't play, I just kick him again. Maybe just downloading the maps

I noticed that he got console warnings later on today, then he disappeared, does seem very strange

I sent him some warnings and then temp banned him, He did come later and I kicked him and haven't seen him since. He hasn't been banned .

As I said: It is strange. Don't know what he's doong there. Round about 150 h connected, ~2200 Score.

 

My ideas

 

1: he is spectating and thinks he is playing

2: He's only taking ingame vids (own Youtube Channel, but no vids accessible (78 views)

3: tries to hack?

Mick I was in there 3 hr before you last nite, and he was spectating the whole time I was playing. there was another guy doing the same thing.

I will put my 2 cents about people spectating.....1 thing to look for from a Admins point is Ip addy (is any other in game close ) if so or not next u can guess he maybe in a chat with someone in game nd giving directions as to where people are....

I saw him just on the Ace. I think it is pointless in this mod as it is no tactical game - run 'n gun. I've seen such guys on Counter Strike and other TDM games too - it sucks.

And on the ace server is no other player i don't know and who maybe has advantages.

 

How ever, it is strange... and he blocks a slot when the server is full

if someone is spectating and a slot is needed for others... then just pm any admin and we can kick him if needed... lol god knows I have been kicked many a times for being afk...

What about an idle kick after 10 minutes? On several Counter Strike Source servers idle players get kicked

and temp banned for two days after 3 idle kicks within 24 hours. (IP and Steam-ID)

sometimes I spectate to see how the better players operate, kind of like a learning thing. but only for a few minutes

We had that on our last freezetag mod, it worked great only problem was it was way too short 150 seconds, i think 5 minutes is long enough for most people to nip to the toilet answer the door/phone or make a cup of tea/coffee.

Just a FYI For all of the admins he is now coming into some of the other servers and just sitting in spec never joins just sits there.
