If you won't heed my advice or that of Sophos, maybe DOHS is more credible...

"Unless it is absolutely necessary to run Java in web browsers, disable it... even after updating to 7u11. This will help mitigate other Java vulnerabilities that may be discovered in the future."

i been preaching this for a long time.. if you go do something risky... TURN OFF JAVA. I have two browsers.. Crome and Firefox.... Java is always disabled in Firefox so I dont forget. All viruses via web browser comes from Java now days. They have direct access to your OS. You can also set to disable Java except for certain sits in Firefox I think. Add a safe site like xtremeidots.com... well maybe another site. lol

Not sure if everything will run ok but i disabled it anyway, to disable Java in Firefox, click the Firefox tab top left of the page then click "add ons" locate the Java ™ platform, look on the far right side for options to enable or disable, ie if it says "Disable" that means it is "Enabled" so you need to click it until it says "Enable" that will disable plug in. :good:

Apple blocks Java on the Mac over security concerns

"It's been a rough couple of weeks for Java. Security issues are dogging the code, the latest fix may cause almost as many problems as it solves, and now Apple has decided to block Java completely.

French blog MacGeneration originally picked up
the blockade, noticing that an update to Apple's XProtect now blocks
all versions of Java on OS X 10.6 (aka Snow Leopard) and above, the
second time in two weeks Apple has blocked Oracle's code."
