Pretty sure the timing is the same.

 

Yes 50 is the max you can get from defrosts. Since the armor defrost is new it will take time to see what values should be set for it. If its too little then there isnt much point to it. But neither should it be too high. Unless I am mistaken armor is now 10 points per defrost. So if someone defrosts 5 teammates, for 50, he should get some benefit for his team play. Considering a typical round is 35-40 points of damage not including location modifiers, or 70 for sniper rifles, 50 points of armor isnt that much. Also considering the armor doesnt regenerate.

 

But as said before it makes stopping power a much more useful perk to have. Also means you are not going to kill another player by shooting him once in the arm or the foot. Which is the stupidest part about hardcore. IMHO hardcore is only there for games with players that dont want to bother with getting torso or head shots. As for hit locations, for those that dont know, in the game engine if you shoot an enemy at his side a shot at the torso area will often hit the arm. Which is logical.  Something to keep in mind when shooting enemies moving at right or left angles relative to your position.

On the other hand I am sure those that have armor love it. One of the problems with hardcore is that players can be killed with pea shooters. Increasing health for everybody isnt an answer. But giving the option for armor to those that want it... at the expense of some other useful perks... is better. Besides, it now makes stopping power or explosive damage valid perks to have. Otherwise there is no point in even including them in the game.

 

Even an RC will not kill a person with armor, this perk is over strength in my opinion and so it seems others. Adding sway etc etc to weapons to make them more even to all other weapons i can understand but this one perk is like having god mode for a shot or two.  When you enable armor it gives you a distinct advantage over the enemy much the same as the old ACR did so why is it any different in terms of taming it?

edit: The RC has the same explosive punch as a pack of C4. 256 unit radius from the center. 400 damage points at the center. 25 at 255 units. Final damage a linear amount between the two depending on distance. So at 128 its 200 damage. At 192 its 100 points.

That's really good info. What's the blast radius on the betty? On one map Roxy had a Bouncy Betty in the alley. I triggered it, but ran in a cellar through a door with a 'thick' wall separating me from the alley yet I died. In similar situations a car explosion has been stopped by trees, walls, and even desks.

Ok some techie info:

 

For the Betty range is 256. Yes 256 is a standard range for many explosives. Max damage at center 210 points. Min damage at 256 units 70 points. So compared to an RC the max/min damage is spread out more. Like claymores it has less explosive punch than a C4 charge but has frag damage, so to speak.

 

The initial radius damage checks performed by the engine are a sphere around the center. It sends player damage to everyone in range. The amount of damage will depend on how much the explosive 'sees' the player based on obstructions, keeping in mind that not everything is solid.  Same checks used by grenades. After that the various exceptions and/or modifications can be done. If a friendly ignore the damage sent, unless ff is on. If the attacker has the sonic boom perk increase the damage. Stuff like that.

 

When the Betty is tripped it pops up to a height of 64 units. When it explodes it goes through height checks relative to the center of the enemy based on his current stance. If standing the center is 32 units high. Crouched is 24. Prone is 10. In addition to the 256 range the stance center of the enemy must be within 46 units above or 46 units below. Assuming level terrain the stance center must be at least 24 units high to receive damage. Those standing receive damage. Those prone do not. Since crouched, at 24, is right in the middle it will depend on the terrain if its not flat or whether or not the enemy is standing on anything. Or if he is jumping.

Told you he was a smart ass:) I just remember back in the UT2004 days it was me on the coding end making weapons and mods 'n' server setups for the [GO] clan. It's a weird role reversal, but kinda cool in the end. Sammy's done a FINE job IMO of this mod, especially taking over where everyone else seemed to just kinda drop it. Thanks man. Sometimes I throw a nade and lose my weapon altogether, someone else suggested I may be throwing it but I dont think so its just gone. Dont know what causes it sometimes I can play for a day or two and nothing happens, then sometimes over and over.

 

On another suggestion since I have not played for quite a while and then have started again somewhat is sometimes it gets a little perk crazy. Its probably me but seems like there's is too much going on that is less related to skill and more related to stacking. For example every time someone dies they just throw out another turret and end the map with 80 kills while everyone else on both teams have like 20. Its probably more on certain maps, and it doesn't happen every time. But it does get frustrating.

There was a sentry bug related to that. But the sentry nade might still be doing it. I will have to check this evening and if so upload a fix that will be there when the server is next restarted. But dinner first.

 

As for losing weapon, do you mean a streak weapon? Or a rifle?

Today immediately after I spawned I was killed by a helicopter in spawn protection. I don't know if it was just a glitch thing or what but thought I'd mention it.

 

Oh, the laptop sound is still really loud. :(

Yea I know about the laptop being heard by other players also. Still havent figured that one out yet. It shouldnt do that. Heli's should follow spawn protection. I will check it out. When you lost the weapon did you try switching it? No idea why throwing a nade should do that.

@Sammy .Ok so knowing those damage points is good thankyou. The reason i made the comment is because i have triggered the RC right at someones feet (with armor) and not killed them. You say its 400 damage points at the centre for the RC, so being right on someone shouldnt they get the whole 400 damage? or is it because its low on the ground that they dont? Should i jump the RC so it gets them waist level for a better hit? Sorry but i want to understand it better so its more effective.

Duke Nukem is awesome BUT I've found out that he dies with 1 bullet in Overtime and Sudden Death.I saved my Duke Nukem 3 times for Sudden Death and used 2 in overtime and 5/5 times he gets killed by what seemed like 1 bullet.

 

Was he designed to die so easily in Overtime or Sudden Death?

Aimed with wa2000 entire clip into one, and not one hit tag, he saw me after this 1 or even 2 clips and shot me down with the acr, kinda wrong in my opinion, and i was like mmm maybe my bad saw one again he didnt saw me and did the same did even tried to shot next to him on both sides and again 0 hittags, so i guess my wa2000 isnt working on my end, while that one is working for others. i get killed a lot by it :(

For all intensive purposes the WA2000 is the Dragunov. Same settings. No you shouldnt have to jump the RC, so to speak.  Maybe something got in the way. I will double check some things. One bullet for Duke in OT doesnt sound right at all.

I'm confused.....

Sniper-Rifles are swaying like heaven, as always before....absolutely useless. There was only one mode where they worked..the alien-mod. But somehow, nobody knows why (lol), So till Black ops 2 (yes, i had the pleasure and tried it out on X-Box!)they were not able to fix that shit. Also the range! of the weapons there is ridiculous!

And the poor Sammy (or somebody else?) has to fix now all the issues caused by an mod-change only because of the accuracy of the ACR?

You make me laugh and wine in the same time and if you're able to explain that to anyone, give'em our tags!

Sway or no-sway is up to the server. Use Hunter to cut hold-breath time by 1/2.  ACR is no longer a noob gun. Sorry.

 

Just a note: yes there is an oversight of mine regarding Duke and armor being ignored. After I upload a script fix it should be taken care of on the next server restart.

@P!nk I have noticed that gun accuracy differs from map to map. On some maps I can use the ACR just fine, and other maps I will get unregistered hits like nobody's business. This also applies to AK47, Steyr and SCAR-H, maybe I am bad at aiming - I don't know. I have been trying to record but unsuccessful to get a decent movie of it. When using snipers, shooting from a vantage point while prone gives better accuracy than standing on level with the target - IMO.

 

You may also want to use the following commands, they seem to make a noticeable difference.

 

/cl_packetdup 2

/snaps 30

/cl_maxpackets 100 (I'm sure you knew already)

 

 

@Sammy I blew a car on Red-Barron at his feet and all I got was a helmet (armor). I shot 2 tubes at another guy and got the armor twice. I would think the first tube would weaken the armor and 2nd would give me a kill. Not sure if its a bug or even a real issue but it does get annoying. I was not using Stopping Power or Sonic Boom.

my car was blown up by a grenade at the feet of 2 enemy. no kills, no armor icons. nothing.
