I heard the other day that some people have adjusted settings in there programing so that they can do things that the majority of others cannot as in leap in the air and change into there car. I discussed this with somebody and was told it was a form of scripting which also was told not illegal but normally frowned upon. I put forward that all players that have adjusted or scripted their settings should nominate that they have or all settings be made uniform so that we all play on an even playing field. If my information is incorrect then please advise me so or if it is correct please give an opinion on what everyone thinks. Thank you for allowing me to share.

nothing will come of it nitro . you might get some people owning up to it but most will not . and you cannot prove it anyway so it cannot be enforced and if its only frowned upon then it does not  break any of our rules .

There is no such scrip that I am aware of that would let you change in to your killstreak RCXD/Predator/AGM etc while you jump. What you see is that someone jumps the moment the laptop comes out. Anyone who can press their jump key, can do it. I do it, because I feel cool turning that laptop mid air. A lot of times I get shot because jumping gives someone a better angle.

It is more likely that they have adjusted their key bindings, it is a common practice in gaming and many of our admins use it for things such as recording demos. It is generally controlled by the config files of the game, so the same way you have 'w' bound to the action 'move forward' etc. I guess it could be called scripting.. but it's not really. 

 

Every player has adjusted this family of settings whether they know it or not so we cannot determine who has changed what and it would not work if everyone had the same settings as the majority have differing hardware, you would have to go to a console platform if you wanted that.

It might be an idea to post adjustments that people can make that may benefit other players, that way people will get feedback on whether they are pushing boundaries or not. If an open discussion is encouraged, we could all benefit from it.

 

I would like to know what people think of FOV. Is it ok to modify this? How much is recommended and how much would be too much?

 

I have not modified my FOV, but I know some people have and I would like some input.

My fov is at 8 0 the max. You see more of the map, though stuff shrinks a bit.

I have spectated players on a pistol only server and busted them for running scripts that allowed full auto or burst fire on all pistols...this was a few years back and don't know if it's still going on...

I had a roommate back 10 years ago that script played cod 4 all the time. I learned a lot from him but never used it myself cause I never agreed with it. But from what I remember there was a lot of altering that can be done to enhance game play in a lot of the early year cod games.

@@Nighto is right that it occurs but let's be really clear what it is first. Write a program to create a chain of events "after" a certain chain of events occur is really all a script can do for you. You cannot write a script to give you extra controls, extra movement, extra items etc. when a non auto pistol is spraying bullets, it's more likely scroll shooting and not scripting.

 

That being said, good luck detecting it. Scroll shooting is easy to see but impossible to prove. Scripting can be seen by very knowledgable people of the cod game and can recognize when he sees a player making a movement that is beyond regular cod movement, but again impossible to prove..

 

Unfortunately scroll and script are part of the game and nothing can really be done to prove it out right.

i change no scripts at all....i can change into car while jumping at times...its the mod not script...even if ppl do its not against the rules and there are protections in place on server that keeps ppl from changing their settings ...if ppl set certain things to different level pb will kick them for 5 min til they change it...so we basically capped certain cvar settings so ppl doesnt gain those advantages....and everyone has equal opp to do some of things that others do....
