Caffeine stays in your system for up to 17 hrs after consumption! Besides that it doesn't do much for me outside of stopping my headaches! That maybe because I am slightly addicted but I use very small amounts when I brew it. So I am not sure! Awards

Have you been tested for sleep apnea? I was and I had a very bad case of it. I had the same kind of problems sleeping and found out I had 2 major problems! Both of which affect sleep and the pattern you do sleep. First I have sleep apnea and when tested I was waking up in a 5 hour time span 144 times. He said it wasn't the worst but just about! Second: I deal with a mildly severe case of depression and when I am in the downward part of the cycle(it does work in cycles) I get very little sleep! I never used marijuana until after I was diagnosed and then only when my regular meds ran low and I was low on funds to have them replaced! You might try another Dr as well and ask them for a sleep specialist referral! BiG CheesE 1 Awards

I slept like a baby every night for most of my life until recently and will sometimes lay away half the night just thinking about what's going on in my life. Diet can always have an effect on sleep and I stay away from caffine later in the day and especially chocolate. Some days I'll find myself nodding off at 5-6 in the afternoon and one piece of chocolate has me bouncing off the walls in just a few minutes (great for driving). Taking naps during the day also has a huge impact on night time sleep, so if you want a full night's sleep don't take a nap during the day. Good luck. Nisty*, Leadfinger and TBB 3 Awards

Like Nisty said, Melatonin seems to help but keep it at 1 mg. (check if you're on other medications to make sure it's ok) Exercise earlier in the day helps me too but seriously I'm pretty sure my biggest problem is working on the computer too close to bedtime . I wake up sometimes and can't go back to sleep. When I smoked... I could go to sleep almost on command just about and I woke up ready to go because I wanted to get up and smoke. I dream shitloads more now that I don't smoke as well or I remember the dreams.... one or the other. Sometimes some crazy ass dreams and they keep me up thinking about them. But I prefer to not smoke. I'm getting too old for that shit... and I have my water which has helped in tremendous ways. Anxieties have been eliminated just about drinking it. I hate anxiety which can be part of your problems. The things we can't get out of our head will keep you up at times. My suggestion... do some kind of activity until you are exhausted.... walking, running, cleaning.. something. You will sleep like a baby when you are that tired. Good luck brother!!! hope you get some answers soon. BigPapaDean and BiG CheesE 2

The caffeine expands your blood vessels. I personally very seldom get a headache and I never drink coffee. I'm hyper enough and more than 1 cup and I get real bad anxiety. Not fun so I stay away from it. Anxiety sucks big time. BigPapaDean and BiG CheesE 2

The truth is while we have more info today than ever before, they have barely scratched the surface as to the research that needs to be done. I have it but not all the time. My son has what is commonly referred to as "social anxiety". When he first told me about this I thought he was joking but then he let me watch several videos on you-tube and I became a believer. We share info with each other because while our disorders are different the symptoms cross over to other disorders! Anxiety is also a huge contributor to sleep disorders. Some sleep disorders cause anxiety and others are caused BY anxiety! @@BiG CheesEI am glad you are exploring this thing as it has many bad health side effects to it. My wife has it really bad. It's difficult. Yea I say I'm pretty lucky to get some answers to that problem. I don't wish it on anyone as it can be debilitating at times and a memory that you can't forget. When I was young and did not understand till 30+ some years later if I was around crowds like Dean is talking about with his son and social anxiety... I would shudder or just could not talk and think strait. Not near a problem today.... but it still lingers. After I get to know the crowed it is not near a problem. Weird but it helps me understand others who have similar problems. BigPapaDean 1
