Ok a question for you all, and I need an honest answer plz. This is about what is fair not what you want.

 

An explosive weapon has a radius of 300 units from the center. Maximum damage at the center is 300 points. Minimum damage at 300 units distance, dropping linearly from max damage, is 100 points. Meaning, if you are at any distance up to 300 you are dead (100 points). Even if you have a Flak Jacket (35 points). At 301 you have zero damage. The difference between 300 and 301 is one footstep.

 

Is that fair?

Anyways. the question was regarding predator. Seems to be working like a bubble. If you are in the bubble, barring obstructions or terrain etc, you are dead. If you are outside of it you have no damage. I got some settings wrong.

That only works if the source is moving and the effect is played over time. Which could make for an interesting sci-fi weapon. But not for a blast. However it should work linearly such that the most extreme distance is 1 point of damage (or some low minimum) and the center is very high.

We should make COD4 like UT and everyone is bouncing around going Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew with AGM missiles and Tanks and Helicopter gunners and then artillery raining in, the predator missiles with a fading damage radius.

 

People around the extremities of the blast radius lose health too, like the Mini Nuke. but much much less damage.

I know many people are loath to adjust their favorite loadout depending on the map and what the enemy does, but if you are in a cqc map full of bunny hopping tubers get a flak jacket. Reduces explosive damage to %35. A direct impact at your feet will still get you. But it basically reduces the kill range of such weapons to 1/2.

A question for everyone, if you know. Every once in awhile I have seen maps on the server. but never at home, that end early or something with everyone in spectate and not on a team. Is there some commonality to this? I saw mp_school do this one time after the first round but not other times. Have you seen this on other mods? Which ones? Was an entire team frozen in regular time? Overtime? Stuff like that.

It happens on slow maps where every round ends in overtime. Then when the time runs out the map ends.

Ends in overtime due to the time limit? The thing that seemed weird, if I remember how it looked, was that everybody was kicked off a team (yellow on scoreboard) so in essence everyone was a spectator. Or as tho it were a FFA game maybe.

Yeah, looks like it reverts to FFA... I guess because there was no team win, it just shows by most points regardless of team.

Ahhh ok that makes sense. Then its not a bug. I imagine SAB and the rest are the same when the timer expires. I didnt think about that. :lol:

Alot of people complaing about hit reg last night. Its been a more promiment complaint this last month or so, is there a chance something is out of whack @@Sammy? BTW loving the smaw lol. :thumbup:

Not sure what this was, both had similar pings, didn't seem laggy. I can't believe it's because I should have used iron sights at that range.

 

I'm sorry but this is a perfect example of just how absurdly screwed up the hit detection is at this point. The bullets are literally flying through the person and this happens to me every match. I actually end up aiming a solid foot in front of a moving target... This is not how it should be and every other mod I play is a shining example of just how ridiculous this has gotten. The mod is functionally broken by any normal/pro gamers standards.

 

The mechanics demonstrated in this video are a CLEAR indication of just how broken this mod is, in my humble opinion that isn't even debatable. I also think it's a bit much to tell people who point this out "then don't play here" and a bit unfair given that, most players would prefer an older version of the mod that isn't completely fucked up than have to play the current derped one.

 

This issue is compounded by players like myself who have mastered bunny hoping and quick zig zag movements making us hell on digital earth to consistently kill. This inevitably causes more drama and stresses people out; a cascading effect of ultimate frustration that in my opinion should be at the FAR FAR FAR forefront of drastic problems needed to be remedied asap. Who cares about perks and classes when you can't even hit somebody a few feet in front of you. It's literally worse than battlefield 4 net coding (which is atrocious). I don't know what else to say, people still play on the server because the community is awesome (love me some idiots yall!!! CACAW CACAW), but the mod is simply out of friggin wack.

 

I'm assuming a quick fix would be making hip fire like 300 million times more accurate to be in line with how the original cod4 is? And that is only half of the problem, when people start moving, even aiming down the sights is incredibly inaccurate. Nothing more frustrating then sneaking up behind a player, and being 3 feet away, unloading an entire clip without a single hitmarker only for them to turn around and blast you.

 

Again, this is only an issue with this particular mod/server. Every other server I have ever played on at any time ever in the known past/present in cod4 with latency ranging from 30-200, I have never experienced such awful hit detection. It's like egregiously wacked the frig out =P.

I think that most of that video shows simply how bad the 308 is when not using the sights. I've played the clip several times in slow-mo, the shots start out behind the enemy, then they move immediately to in front of him. Then around 17-18 seconds you can see one bullet hit the ground to the left side and then another hit the right side of the player.

 

If I am using not using the sights with that gun, I won't even try to keep my gun on who I am shooting at because I've seen the bullets fly everywhere but where the gun is aimed. I think I still have a video where I wasn't using my sights and headshot you from far away when you weren't even center on my screen.

The other day everyone wanted to skip a map, but there was no admin playing...so we all went to spectate, and the round ended and the game skipped to the next map. Could that be what you are talking about?

The video is very clear in that it shows the hip fire of the 308 sucks. It's supposed to and there is nothing wrong with it. Other than it not doing everything you want the way you want. The balance of the weapon greatly benefits those that aim. The hipfire perk certainly helps. If you want accurate hip fire get the AK47. It is the only AR where hip fire is actually slightly better than aiming because it doesnt have as much kick. Dont ask me why they did it that way. Maybe because that is what they see in the movies.

 

As for the map, maybe that was it.

 

edit: Anyways hit detection is just fine. Too good in fact especially around the head. But thats the way they want it and I couldnt alter it even if I could.

That might fly if I hadn't tested it with multiple other weapons including pistols. Also, I still have to shoot in front of people to kill them when they are moving.. Again, no other server even comes close to that sort of awful hit detection. It's exclusive to this mod, especially the most recent version.
