There's absolutely no way I'm getting win10. No sir. I've already found linux software for almost everything I do so I'll be making my permanent switch to linux as a primary very soon. I hear ya. I did upgrade my gaming rig to Windows 10 because I am curious about it, but I've turned off a bunch of data-sharing options. I dual-boot into Linux Mint, which is where I spend most of my time. My Lenovo laptop runs OS X "Yosemite", and my wife has a big iMac. My Main servers run BSD and Linux, and I have a Windows Server 2012 R2 in the rack for training/lab work. It's attached to a Cisco Router which has its own IP address from my ISP (I put a switch behind the DSL modem, and my main DHCP server/firewall/router - a Sophos UTM on a HP DL360 - and the Cisco each get served a routable IP address). The lab network and home network are completely isolated, with very little Micorosoft in the mix. eidolonFIRE 1 Awards

But it also scans and stores what you write to 'help you'. Thanks but no thanks. As for facebook, apps and such, you know what you are getting into. I hold OS development to a higher standard. It would be different if these new so-called features were stored locally with no cloud shit. DEEJAYKEG 1 Awards

I have installed 10 on most of my home laptops, although word of warning, using the Roll Back to previous OS feature in Windows 10 breaks your original OS,( well it killed my wireless card driver and touch screen driver anyway, so had to do a complete Clean Install of 8.1 again!). Then again I cannot wait for Direct X 12 to be rolled out and supported by the games developers if the reported performance improvements are to be believed. Ta for listening Awards

Don't sign up for one drive, don't sync it, don't sign into it. You can even set it to not load with windows (reccomended imo) I keep my own backups and system images. I like 10, it definitely runs quicker than 7 and the UI is very nice Been using automatic updates for years, once in a great while it causes a driver issue but it's never been the end of the world and I don't expect it to be. All in all as far as Win 10 is concerned unless you're one of those Jared Fogle types you got nothing to worry about, As with any internet activity practice safe and use common sense... I dumped my fb years ago. Glad I did too. Since then it's become nothing but a wall of inline targeted ads. I really don't miss it. Once you finally stop trying to run that rat race of attention seeking, comparing yourself to your friends, and displaying your life better than it really is, the more contended you will be. There are plenty of people all around you that you can talk to and be real life friends with. Better to focus on the 5 people that live nearby and you still hang out with than stalk your relatives and old college friends that moved away years ago. It's a waste of time and energy. </rant> hxtr 1
