OK ROCKAPE  needs a new pc . so we have spent many many hours so far looking at what to build or buy .

Our conclusion are these options .

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/QyZgyf    with no operating system and will need to be built by shop or someone visiting him .

or there is this option from pc specialists that has operating system and 3 year warranty and is built and delivered.

https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/intel-z270-pc/wXkH3HTuag/

if anyone can come up with a better build for very very similar price it would be of great help . it may even save you from being banned from the website as Rock loves to website ban !!

Pcs are difficult to decide.....depends on use...

I have always brought the most high end graphics card over processor as for gaming the processor is not really doing much. but if rocape is into video editing or other high end video/graphics work then a better processor is great.

Good luck with whatever you choose ..let us know where alll the hard earned dosh goes....

I would get a BD/DVD/CD drive. A little more money. Cant say I record too much to bluray except for important stuff that I want an extra backup of that isnt on a hard drive. But comes in handy to rip things now and then. Or you do video editing and want to make your own for standalone players.

I wouldn't get anything less than 500 Gig SSD Rock, my last PC had only 120 Gig and basically it filled up with nothing, never had any games on just windows crap, it only had 4 Gig left on it when i dumped it.

the parts are fine for the price, if he or who ever is going to pay for this has it, than no probs.

you can go lower in the cpu, take a normal cooler instead of water cooling, and take a cheaper motherbord as well for the HDD and RAM also the video card could be 960 or 970 what ever. if money is a thing. save's about 200 to 250,- if you take the cheap components.

You still can go lower then that, but then you will have to look into cheap AMD components. Like asrock mainbords and so on.

but with this build you dont have to upgrade the next couple or years like 4 - 5 if you only play the game's that are out now. If you wait 3 4 years new game's will need alot better specs. but in a time frame of 4 years you can save some money for upgrade's later. that is also what i do, put money away every month a little bit, in 4 - 5 years i can buy a new one or the components that are needed.

Not much difference between the 1060 and the 1070 to warrant the price difference. 1060 is cheaper and all that is needed.

EDD, I would suggest that you also check the Samsung 960 EVO M.2 500GB. Added cost is £88 (including VAT based on the PCSPECIALIST link) but you see a 6x increase in read speed and 4x increase in write speed.

I/O speed makes enormous difference in my opinion. Just a thought.

I disagree with the cost savings suggested by some others here.

I really like the list of parts, except the vid card. I would get something beefier that would last a longer amount of time upgrade wise.

Nice job!

I think with the new 6core amd Ryzen 1600x processor and an Am4 x370 board you have the best price performance for gaming
