Pfffft, filed w/the fed & state two months ago. Fed ponied right up, but Illinois didn't give me my refund. Had to write a check for my IRA distribution, home & vehicle insurance is due, and property taxes are right around the corner. State sent me notice, they want copies of my w-2's, 1099's and federal return. Huh? you have all that crap already, that's why we e-file. All that information was filled out on their site. Gonna have to drag everything back out, make copies, and mail it all in a large sleeve because it's too much paper work to fold.

BTW, hope you're holding up WP, we just finished first quarter statements & mailing, and everyone is drained.

States often want to verify (by hard copy) efiled tax returns.  Dont take it personal beers.  :)    They are just trying to cut down on the fraud.

We have over 60 extensions to file.  Worst year yet for people coming in late.  And  70% of those will wait till freaking October to get their shit together.

@MikeB ,  we filed about 50, although I filed one for every person that hasn't been in yet in addition to those 50 that contacted me already.  You know.....CYA :P  Mine wait until October usually also.  But this year, I'm either going to encourage them with a discount for every month it's early, or I'll charge more for every month they wait

Technically, the 15th falling on a weekend only gives us one extra day.  The second extra day is because DC celebrates Emancipation Day on the 16th.  Since the IRS is closed on the 16th, you're not obligated to pay your taxes until the next business day, which is why we have until the 17th.  Ugh!  But I really need them now, since tonight's incessant rain is currently flooding my tax office

I know Mike, it just irks me that they hold an interest free loan, while BY LAW my two largest expenses are insurance and tax. My W4 is already set claiming myself and head of household, yet I still give the Fed and state annual freebies.

not happy with mine this year. barely worth filing for. I didnt owe but not even 100 back in my wallet.

not sure what happened but something must have  expired in tax relief or something, as nothing changed on my end. same pay, deductions, etc

Last year I got back almost 2 grand, this year I was lucky not to get bent over.

fucking taxes.... I was gonna buy a new fishing kayak

Beers !!!!  Claiming yourself on your W4 is not a good thing.  Plus there is no "Head of Household" on the W4 :)   So if you are single or even married for that fact, with no kids you claim, then be sure to file "Single 0".  Especially with the new tax code in play.  While the average tax brackets have dropped 2 to 2.4%, the payroll tax withheld (be it W2 wages or pension") have dropped too.  Meaning they will be taking less taxes out each pay period.   If you or anyone have any related questions PM me, I would be happy to help and get you squared away for next year.

Typed that incorrectly Mike, I claim myself on my W-4, and FILE as single, head of household. Why claim 0? I'd rather keep my money in my hands rather than loan it to them.

Sorry just misunderstood your intentions.  Thought you wanted a refund and to stop owing.   We like to break even or owe a little too.
