I haven't played a lot of CoD4 lately, but when I have it resets and I have to re-enter the game key. I was like whatever, I'll figured it out later.

Now however, I start the game, says I didn't close the game properly. Get a loading screen, then a black screen and it crashes.

I saved my profile, maps and all the mods for different servers. Uninstalled, deleted remaining folders, reinstalled. replaced saved files, and the 1.7 patch.

Started the game.. and no change. Says I didn't close the game properly, even though it was a clean install. Loading screen then crash. Even tried to run as admin to see if there was a difference. Nothing. :unknw:

For shits and giggles rename your iw3mp.exe to oldiw3mp and download this one in its place and give it a spin...You may simply have a corrupt one...Outside of that make sure your screen resolution is the same as desk top resolution and you could give a exception to or disable mode in your Windows by searching Game Mode Settings in your Windows search bar

Best of luck

I downloaded the patch you have posted when I did it.

However!! I have not tried it yet, but I just noticed the kids unplugged my headphone fob that I had plugged into the back of the computer specifically, so they did not see it and unplug it. So, it may be the "headphones issue crash".... Annnnd.. may have been a complete waste of time. :whistle:I'm an idiot! lol! We'll see! lol

Edit; Well... hopefully it at least fix the game key issue?

I have win 10 works perfect. The short story is whenever I have COD4 crashes it’s always related to a sound issue. I have a Steel series 7 gaming headset, over the last 2-3 years I’ve been plagued with COD4 sound issue crashes. I believe @dLUX used to have the same issues with Steel series. It turned out to be every time my headset crashed it also crashed my game. I assume my headset corrupted my sound files.  The only way to fix it was to reinstall my Steel series software. This always started when I walked away from my pc and the pc went into sleep mode.

I finally Lund a post about resetting my headset by removing the ear cover and using a paper clip to reset it.
Fingers crossed everything is working fine with no crashing for 2 weeks.

Kind of off topic but I believe most COD4 crashes are related to sound

99% of the time it's either #1 Microphone not plugged in or bad wire on the Microphone. Or a USB Mic/Headphone issue.

If you have a USB headset and/or Mic make sure that you plug it into 1 of the USB ports on the back of the PC. The USB headers on the front of the case are usually set to Lower priority and can cause issues when used with headphones and/or Mic.

USB thumb drives will often not be detected or will not boot off of the front panel USB ports on alot of PCs. This tells me that they are either not initiated fully at boot or are set to lower priority.

Never EVER update your Sound drivers if they are working especially with the Realtek sound and LAN drivers.

If you have to install or update a Realtek driver, get the latest one that was Made for your motherboard from your motherboards Manufacturers web site. It might be a couple of years old but it was Made for your motherboard.

If you make the mistake of installing a newer one from Realteks site and it doesn't work? You will most likely have to reinstall windows to fix it because it over writes the default windows drivers which are not saved when you make a restore point.

I am sure that there is a way to get around this but, it will not let you install an older driver Because that fucked up realtek driver is "newer" than the one that you want to install.

I'm sure you can delete drivers in device manager, I then used to run Ccleaner and install the intended driver.

I've not had to do it in a while, but that's how I remember it

I haven’t noticed class resets, but I haven’t been playing cod lately. Then when I do it’s on XI servers. So I would assume those setting are saved to the mod files?

Re-entering the key all the time is annoying enough though!

Make sure mic sound all hooked up and installed and updated as my comment before I had same issue when it came to multi-player was able to play single player but not online and I would get kicked out all the time
