Yesterday morning my Pops lost his fight with Cancer. He went peaceful and on his own terms. The day before he decided the pain was too much and wanted to be induced into a coma and no feed tubes or IV and let him shut down. We had a VERY cleansing and theraputic afternoon of goodbyes, video calls to those who could not see him (fuck you covid and your restrictions) my brother sister mother and I all had 1 on 1 talks with him, he was ok with his choice and more worried WE would be ok with it. We were, we are shattered, but we will pull ourselves back together, there was no putting Pops back together this time and he knew it. Yesterday afternoon they were supposed to induce the coma, we got a call at around 730am that he took a turn for the worse and to come there, Mama told them to let him know we are on the way. Well Pops being Pops found that off switch he said he has been looking for for a week now, he didnt want us to see him pass and he flipped that switch inside before we got there. He went calmly and peacefully with a nurse holding his hand. He was surrounded by so much love all week the RNs were in tears daily saying they have NEVER seen such a close family and a family so full of love, we were confused, its just the way we are, they said unfortunatly not many in the hospice have that support and thats saddening in itself So with that being said, I implore you to tell those close to you that you love them, dont shy away from 3 simple words, dont hold them for just your spouse or family, love openly and freely, tell your friends you love them, tell anyone and everyone close to you that you love them, take the weirdness out of saying it and it will become a natural thing to say, I have SOOOO many friends guys and gals I have no problem saying I love you to when parting ways even if for a short time, I was lucky, I got to say goodbye and I love you to my Pops before he went, many dont get that chance, so dont pass up a chance to say it because you never know if you will get that chance again! Thank you all for your kind words, thoughts, prayers this last week, I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!! ❤❤❤ Raise up a glass in my old mans honour, the world lost a good one! We took this one a couple days before he passed "Surrounded In Love"10 points

Thanks for sharing, br0ther. Mortality sucks.socks. ...& I agree with you, get everything square with the people for whom you care. Your parents' death really drives home how short our time is. Took care of my mom during her final years, & the main reason I took nursing years ago. My thoughts are with you, Storm & please feel free to holler if you wanna talk.3 points -

Cancer SUCKS ASS but LOVE is what makes such a sad situation that we can't control bearable at best. My prayers go out to your entire Family and to everyone who Loved you Pops and all those he touched during his life. You must remember he didn't leave you, he just had to become your Guardian Angel and he will visit you often. You will over time learn to recognize the signal he sends you when he is around like his favorite bird showing up or that rainbow that appears when you wish you could call him. I have lost so many people I LOVE to that dreaded beast and it takes a piece of me each time. But I know every time I think about them it is because they have come to visit me and that feeling I get is their way of letting me know they are in Heaven and will be there waiting when it is my time. Thank God that Hospice Care has become a option for people who are facing the end of their time on this plain before they go to be beside God and reunited with their Loved Ones and can spend their final days with dignity and with some sort of control of what treatment they get and can be with loved ones "except covid times". I think Hospice workers are hero's because they know how important each person is to someone and they deal with loss just like we do but they still give love and compassion to our loved ones instead of them being alone in some Hospital that is extra busy, loud, and not focused on dealing with patients passing over a slower time like Hospice is. Stay Strong and I hope sharing your Love of your Pops helps with your grief right now. We are always here for you any way we can and I will light one up for him tonight as I look to the stars2 points -

Kindred spirits my man! I only saw them once up in the Dayton, Ohio area where they're from probably that same tour.. 95-96ish. Was a good show from what I remember - they didn't go super encore mode on that show. That sounds awesome! Big fan of many genres of music, but I spent so much time in the 90's listening to alternative and indie music from an awesome college radio station out of Oxford, OH that went by the call signal WOXY, 97.X - "The future of rock n' roll..." which got a little notoriety from the movie Rain Man, partially filmed here in Cincy. Anyway, GBV was a staple on that station. Fond memories!1 point -

WHAAAAT?!?!? I wouldn't think anyone would know GBV!! Holy shit! I absolutely LOVE these guys. I saw them play here in....'96? They had their styrofoam cooler full of Budweiser and a 40lb'er of Wild Turkey in front of the drum kit. Bob was drankin' like a fiend, doing leg kicks and twirling his mic around in the air like a yoyo. Classic Bob. After their initial set, they came back out and played a 3 song encore to everyone's delight. Went off stage, had a couple puffs off of a cig, and then came back out for a SECOND encore. Everyone was loving it. Then...they came out a THIRD time and played more songs! People were losing their minds!!! And, you guessed it, they came out for a FOURTH encore to play more!! The promoter actually turned on the house lights!! But that didn't stop ol' Bob! He kept singing, grabbing people from the audience and bringing them on stage to sing along. What a hell of a show!!! Such a great memory haha!!! Here's one of my faves...1 point -

They returned into the bedding once the front passed & the barometric pressure rose; but immediately resurfaced with this next approaching front & attendant pressure drop. These dudes are surprisingly sensitive to the area weather systems! It had me initially worried that their bedding was too moist or the ph, temp was outside their comfort zone. Now I know better.1 point

What's the difference between a rental car and a Jeep? There are some places you wouldn't take a Jeep. What do you call a rental car in Spain? A Barceloaner The penguin and the mechanic A penguin is driving a rental car through Arizona when, suddenly, the air conditioner stops working. The penguin, frantic with the heat, swerves into the first car repair shop he sees. Penguin jumps out yelling, "Quick, quick! Drop everything and fix my air conditioner. I'm literally dying from this heat! Really, it's an emergency!" The mechanic says, "Calm down, now. I can fix your car in about a half hour, and you should just go across the street to wait in the ice cream shop. It's cool in there, and they sell soft-serve ice cream." The penguin is thrilled, jumping up and down, and yells, "Yay!! Soft serve is my favorite!", and he scampers across the street waving his stubby wings. Exactly a half hour later the penguin rushes out of the ice cream shop with vanilla ice cream all over his face, and runs into the repair shop, yelling, "Did you fix it!? Did you fix it!?" The mechanic says, "Yeah, no problem. It looks like you just blew a seal." The penguin frantically wipes his mouth and yells, "NUH-UH! That's just ice cream!!"1 point -
