I received a phone call from a gorgeous ex-girlfriend who, this morning, called 'out-of-the-blue' to see if I was still around. We lost track of time, chatting about the wild, romantic times we used to enjoy together. I couldn't believe it when she asked if I'd be interested in meeting up and rekindling a little of that 'old magic'. 'Wow!' I was flabbergasted. 'I don't know if I could keep pace with you now', I said, 'I'm a bit older and a bit grayer and balder than when you last saw me. Plus I don't really have the energy I used to have.' She just giggled and said she was sure I would 'rise to the challenge'. 'Yeah.' I said. 'Just so long as you don't mind a waistline that's a few inches wider these days! Not to mention my total lack of muscle tone...everything is sagging, my teeth are a bit yellowed and I am developing jowls like a Great Dane!' She laughed and told me to stop being so silly. She teased me saying that tubby, grey haired, older men were cute, and she was sure I would still be a great lover. Anyway, she giggled and said, 'I've put on a few pounds myself!' So I told her to f*** off.

Correct my Guru, I used to be good at English, I still is, lack of use nowadays combined with laziness at not checking anything I've rote.

Main focus should be size, resolution, latency, and contrast. Curved is better if you go bigger. I have a Hannspree and it was great until it stopped working at higher refresh rates.

As said above, installing COD4X fixes most issues with COD4. You need to extract the file to your COD4 folder and then run the install from there. If you have any issues then I could run through it one evening (I'm uk based)

@Totty @BROMODROSYS Totty has some great information on running an COD4 program that smooths everything out for this old game. I did change my sound settings and that wasn't it. I turned off the Windows Defender that suddenly was enabled from the last Windows update. Not it. So I went into the Activision folder, found the IW3MP exe and that's the one that's crashing. However, in there was a shortcut ICON to a "Play COD4 1.7 MW" file, and that launched and worked. I played with that version tonight after updating a few controls that weren't the same and aside from a few minor differences in sound files it plays very much like the crashing version. Should I run the updater again to get me back to the version I was on working again? I don't recall what version that was either?

@BROMODROSYS Bromo many times when I've had a Windows update I've had similar crashes. Just about every time its a sound issue. For some reason windows changes my sound settings and I have to change my default sound equipment back. I use Steele Series Arctis 7 gaming headset and the GG software. My latest Windows 10 updates were November 13 and 20th.

OK, nothing has changed since I shut it down before leaving on Vacay. WIN 10 OS. The crash dump file I believe mentioned an IW3 file error. The game begins to load, splash screen pops up, then changes to the profile selection screen for an instant and then it closes down and the crash dump file send to Microsoft popup fires up. Can that be exported? Can I fix an IW3 file?
