Looking to get a new gaming headset. I am a fan of Razer, and found a pair that fits the blue light theme I have going for my PC setup (don't knock it, it looks sick as fuck).  My main question is, do any of you guys/gals use surround sound headphones, and are they worth the $?

I have the Razer Piranha, and was very pleased with the clarity in game, thoroughly recommended.

comfortable up until about 2-3 hours, then only a little annoying after that.

Like anytihng, you can easily overspend, and I wouldn't spend any more than what they cost me.

These are the ones I'm looking at, if i don't go with a surround sound set.

I can tell in game in COD4 where players are, really makes a difference, if they are on the same floor as me, up above, below, approx. distance away, what they are doing (i.e. claying up).

Sound placement in-game,is for me, very good.

I would recommend a good software for managing sounds too, SoundMAX Blackhawk is what I use.

I use Logitech G-35's and am very pleased with them.

Does CoD WaW support 7.1? I.m not looking to buy a new sound card. I have a SB live that does 5.1. eventhough for $100 that seems like a HELLUVA deal!

<edit> nvrmnd that, I know that it has to do with the card, and what it supports.  I'm a PC tech (derp).  Plust my motherboard supports 5.1 on-board.

I guess, my main concern in the simulated surround sound.  I am all about having an edge when it comes to gaming.  But I notice on a lot of games, when someone is behind u and moves from right to left, it's hard to hear the lateral movement.

Ok, I see that it has only a USB connection.  Does the software support the 7.1? Or is it that since it's actually a simulated surround sound, u dont need a sound card?

I am not gonna buy a new card.

AND is the WaW multiplayer in 7.1 surround?

Yeah, it makes a difference.  I have the logitech g35 and love it.  There is a definate difference from suround and none.  Easier to tell if someone is around you.  In fact I broke my first set and have my new set on order to be delivered wed.
