Howdy gang ,

Please make a note to setup a restore point on your puters , so when you

come here to ask for help with a virus your rigs will be "ready" to remove

the unwanted guests , its really simple : W7 users right click on Computer

goto properties goto system protection its located at the bottom of the utility

W XP and Vista goto Start/all programs/accessories/system tools

It is important to regularly set up a restore point for future attacks

best time is after running scans and installations .

I also teach a class on how to properly back up data for re-vamping

or any other reason , you can all hit me up any time you want xfire

or TS .

Enjoy......David A. your friendly neighborhood PSYCOKILLER

Psycho,

I hate to disagree with you man, but doing a system restore with a virus on your computer is the absolute WORST thing you can do. If a virus gets into your system back-up, you are (literally) screwed and you will never get it out. System restore works great to neutralize a malware - NOT A VIRUS. There is a huge difference between the two. If you do get a virus, the first thing you should do is DISABLE system restore untill you rip the virus out of your system. I appreciate that you are trying to help but please make sure the advice you are giving is correct.

thank you

In my 23 yrs of troubleshooting computers the only people who say that system restore is not

to be used for removing viruses is the software companies (of coarse they want to sell you their

products) for 1. it is impossible for any virus of any kind to infiltrate the virtual image of the HDD

(if this had occurred there would be a blue screen which is not caused by a virus) this virus that

is in question has been around for about 3 yrs , it originated as a tooth paste blue windows XP

looking utility that scared people into believing that it is there computer warning them of a virus

which its only purpose was to steal credit card information , since then I have successfully removed

this virus over 50 times , there are some cases where some windows content has gone awry

corrupt or missing that will cause the system restore not to work right , so in that case we use

something a little bit more concise like a reg cleaner , this is where the technician is aware of

the computers shorthands , and in the case that first 2 don't work there is always a 3rd option

but in the case of system restore there are proper steps that need to be taken before (like

doing it in safe mode w/o networking , and when you have the right software installed on your

puter like Belarc Advisor "GOD mode" which I would say most gamers have these and then

there is the 3rd option that I mentioned which is using the CMD "attrib" for manually removing

malwares and viruses , system restore clears the registry and that is where the virus infiltrates

and a quick free reg cleaner or system cleaner like advanced system care 5

will do the trick .

I don't mean to challenge you , but every single virus I have worked to remove has stayed removed

I have allot of yrs of experience with computers and is what I do for a living and if you'd like we can

discuss this on TS or Xfire or Skype to remedy your problem .

David again thanks for the welcome 4f5ce1813b746_80.gif

No Rob I didn't mean to come across like that I am sorry , and I would like to help if I can

you see I have some worthless friends lol who have bought computers and hired me to

geek squad them so to speak for them , let me tell you that these people have no business

owning computers or drivers licenses for that matter all they do is watch porn and play games

they haven't listened to one single fucking thing I've said and ALL of THEM have ended up

with that virus multiple times two of them 7 an 9 times and who do you think they call when

they need help ? yep me lmao and I bet that you have friends like that too ? hehehe

It has become a simple process for me removing viruses and as I admit that some of them

were tough they were still beating and removed , I tried writing you another letter that had

hyper links and everything but the system here can't handle it , I have allot of good programs

all of them free that really work , and one thing to always remember; in computers its the backup

that is of the most important , and not their backup you Never want ANYONE backing or any

utility backing up your data , this is why most of us have a secondary HDD for backing up the

OS , I still have content from 15 computers ago as I have always made backups myself

manually and registry cleaners always want to back your registry before running scans

in-case of errors , why? in most cases its your OS that lacks something vital and I see it

on so many computers , I would say just about every one I've looked at on team viewer

is lacking vital windows components with windows biggest problem being its D-Frag

and how important it is and how shitty the one on windows is lol which only goes to

show how important it is to manually back up your data , because with the proper

manual backup you'll save a whole bunch of time when a scary virus comes into

your computer , with it being impossible for a virus to infiltrate your (storage drive)

since there is no gateway between them there's no worry , you see we don't care

what's on the C drive we care what's backup on the F drive and as long as we have

a viable backup we don't have to worry about the little things like viruses and malwares

which are easy to remove .

Again I am sorry for coming on like I did , David

The only one I have had to use in anger is Acronis True Image and, I am delighted to say, it worked a treat.

The only problem was, as the image I had made was a few weeks old, I lost some data.

One can set it up to do incremental back-ups, though.

I really haven't found an auto backup that works right , as a bench marking test

a paid for SCANNER OF DATA ERRORS was run through an auto backup from

Seagate and it found 47 errors , which means the backup software copied

worthless shit that doesn't belong in a backup and the way it stores data is just

plain funky but when it comes to saving your computers data storage is of

the most importance a secondary drive (Example) I have 2 HDDs in my puter

a 500g for the C/: and a 1.0t for the storage , (note) when we all can afford a

terabyte SSD we'll use them as our C/: but till them never use a terabyte for C/:

unless its a 10,000 RPM Raptor or Cheetah (reason being) data transfer and

recall speeds a 500g is sufficient for gamers , I have 20 games on my C/: ,

now back to saving data , which is really quite simple there are only 3 area's

on a computer that you can save , and its because of the W OS registry or

known as C/: ok for one never place an OS on your storage drive (no gate

ways) you'll want to protect your data at all costs and having no gateways

means No Way To Infiltrate or (Access) now with that said lets move on

1.Documents

this will be the largest location for data , your documents folder contains most of

your computers storage capacity , here you'll find all of your music photos videos

PDFs notepads and user files , but not all user files , I really wish we can have a

TS or Xfire talk about this this is allot of fucking typing anyways , (note) having

your storage drive set up to handle a manual backup is important too (if you

just cluster fuck it on to it then you'll have a cluster fuck) a serious mess and

is too much for me to explain here) segregating shit into proprietary folders is

the way (Example) Media counts for ALL movies videos pictures music documentaries

torrent files , making a PDF folder is just that a folder for storing nothing but PDF's

all you are simple doing is setting up about 10 different folders to store your

segregated files into however many needed for a complete manual backup

now once your internal storage drive is set up its really easy to manually

make routine manual backup's , you'll want to save ALL notepads , user

game data (user files) (never save a game) just your user file (your game

profile name) (ask for directions if don't know) also list OS . this category

is vast this is why you'll need about 10 folders . (note) taking things like

Media off of your C/: and putting it only in your storage drive will free up

space on your C/: drive making it faster .

2.Executable's (ExEs)

ExEs are all of your programs anything that is packed) a download program

anything that requires unpacking or installing (Example) you buy a malware

cleaner it comes with a download and an email containing a product key

which the key is placed on a notepad with wordwarp activated while the

download (ExE) after installation is stored into the ExE folder (note) that

notepads are the most important part of any computer because they hold

and store ALL of your user names and passwords your serial and product

keys , the dates you purchased your hardware and software all of your

accounts information the Belarc Advisor Program----------------------------

I listed into a later post is just awesome it is a complete audit for your puter

I have been using it for yrs and love it , Ok windows 7 has a great feature

called Snipping Tool , which you can use to save Belarc's Audit as a JPEG

talk about handy which you store on your storage drive in your media folder

(remember to segregate each sub folder in each master folder (note) snipping

tool can save anything (even material that's not copyable) as a JPEG) cool .

(note use belarc as your daily weekly or monthly backup and to remember

to back your game profile user data .

3. Bookmarks and Favorites

save all of your bookmarks and favorites (Example) if using firefox first you'll

want to make a folder to store all of your browsers favorites and bookmarks

firefox users click on Bookmarks next click on show all bookmarks next click

on import export , you'll want to export all bookmarks to the location folder

on your storage drive (if need direction for any browser let me know)

Ok let me know if you all need any help or ask any questions (I am here

for my Brother's and Sister's)...............................David A.

There is a nice Tool called "SyncBack". This prorgram will backup any Files / Folders you want,

both: full and incremental. :) There are three versions availabale: Free, Personal Edition and a company edition)

You can schedule the backups etc....

http://www.2brightsparks.com/syncback/index.html

My personal opinion:

Using a restore point is one way to try to remove crap. But if the Virus etc has found his way into "System Volume Information"

(e.g. the antivirus tool didn't detect it before a new restore point has been created) you can not be 100% sure, that the restore point is clean.

I personally would never trust a system again that has been infected with such crap. Save your Data re-install.

Regardless if the virus has been removed or not.

I would not call into question what you say Psycho, please do not misunderstand.

Greetings

Its cool I have a great success rate of removal but that's me , I have one manual

reg cleaner that I have been using for yrs and it works 100% every time , I

understand what you are saying but experience and trial and error along

with bench marking is how I roll as companies will tell you anything to get

a sale and have supremacy with you and your rig and there is a CMD

called "attrib" from your CMD Prompt you can remove ANY virus or Malware

from your puter at any time during any situation this is what we use to

absolutely make sure that there are No remaining threats , I will leave

you with the best direction for using "attrib" Using "Attrib" to remove viruses

and malwares you will learn allot from these directions and once you learn

this formula you'll never have virus doubts again .

I din't say that you're wrong ;) Your post is very useful!

I know the Win cmd well. The howto is very detailed, and easily understandable. Bot not every

"normal" user is able to detect bad files or to distinguish such files from system-related ones.

I just wanted to clarify that everyone has to know what he/she does, especially when deleting files within

the Windows folders. :)

Regarding SyncBack:

I'm using the free edition without having any problems. Didn't benchmark this tool until now.
