Headset Stops Working

In the middle of the game cod4, my headset stops working. No sound and not able to talk nomore. Does anyone knows what this could cause?

only in game ore is all sound gone ??

He has to unplug his headset and plug it back in, i am not sure if its every sound, it only happens in cod4.

If you have another headset try it first. If it continues usually the problem is an audio driver issue. COD4 is pick about that. update the drivers for you sound card. I had issues similar to this where audio would stop working and even sometimes the game would freeze. I found that not only were the drivers out of date but my sound card was no longer being supported because it was too old and I couldn't get updated drivers for my operating system. I had to get a new sound card but it resolved the issue for me.

Is it USB ? if so, you may have a device that is causing a conflict, older USB devices can cause problems.

Try removing any USB device that is not in use at the time.

Is it USB ? if so, you may have a device that is causing a conflict, older USB devices can cause problems.

Also in Win7 some USB's are set to sleep. Go to Control Panel\Power Options.. In there you will see

go to change advance power plan settings...then you will see

check the USB setting and set it to disable...

 

Also in device manager you will see a USB setting

Make sure ALL USB's are unchecked in the box shown...

if realtek sound they just released driver for w7 64bit seens fixed sound / mic issues

thx for the info, i had 2 USB checked, i unchecked them, im gonna try tomorrow to see if this caused this error.

I did all of the above things, and still it stopped working in the middle of the game. Any other ideas what it can be?

it is working for a while in cod4 and then after a few minutes it just stops

The headset was broke, we brought it back today and we got a new one. We still had waranty.
