So i have received some exciting news.. I will be going to London on the 18th to work at EDC London on July 20th.

The company I am working for needs some fun people to volunteer for Ground Control.
Ground Control is responsible for walking around the festival making sure all of the guests are OK and make sure everyone is having a good time.

Yes its a music festival and EDC Las Vegas 2013 was the largest music festival in the United States

Though it looks like it'd be a lot of fun, as I almost qualify as an ancient monument in my own right, I shan't be attending.

I have, however, put out the word among my younger friends in this area (about 70 miles south of London and well connected

by rail) and directed them to the organisers' web site.

 

I hope you enjoy your visit to my home city and also that you'll have some free time to see some of the many sights.

If time is short, a good way to do it is via the river - you can get a boat that brings you down to Westminster, past the Tower of

London after going under Tower Bridge  and there's usually a commentary along the way to point out places of interest and tell

you little stories about the historical people involved.  It doesn't cost a huge amount of money either.

 

The weather here is hot by English standards currently and is forecast to remain so for another two weeks - you can expect daytime

temperatures in the city up to 90F and night-time up to 70F.

 

On the topic that @@JohnnyDos touched upon, please do not be tempted to indulge in any of that stuff - even personal possession is

a serious offence with a maximum penalty of five years in jail, an unlimited fine or both.  If detected at a border, do not expect to enter the

country even if not prosecuted.  (Former Customs Officer and cop speaking! )

 

If you like beer, you'll find plenty to try in "The Smoke" (a nickname for the capital that goes back to the days when it was shrouded in smog).

Fuller's London Pride (see avatar) is a fine one and there is a micro-brewery near your venue called Greenwich Meantime that produces some

interesting ales too.  Don't pass up the chance to taste some jellied eels - they are lovely!

Thank you for the info, I won't be bringing any smoke with me don't worry lol. I get to go sight seeing for a day and then I work the festival then leave the following day. Short stay but I shall make it worth my while. I plan on sight seeing for all of my down time.. FUCK SLEEP!
