Is this so? Alasdair No, that’s completely wrong. Once you have installed Windows 10 and made a note of your product key, it’s yours forever. Well, you can use it until Microsoftstops supporting it, which is usually 10 years. For all those saying payment will be required after upgrade. I believe there is an upgrade advisor that tells you if your hardware and software are compatible for Win 10. If you had problems with win 7, 10 might not be somewhere you want to go without a hardware upgrade first.
 Awards

Also read that you can Upgrade from Win 7-8.1 and you have 30 days to decide if you wan to keep it.It will save your old windows installation files (or Recovery image) for 30 days before automatically deleting it.Or until you run the Disk Cleanup utility. http://www.howtogeek.com/220723/how-to-uninstall-windows-10-and-downgrade-to-windows-7-or-8.1/ Edited July 26, 2015 by Pvt.Death hxtr
 You can then do a clean install without having to intsall 7 or 8 again. That is bad ass... because upgrading your OS sucks and makes it slow. Nova backup program. Microsoft has change their bottle. No longer are they try to make things incompatible, they are changing their model to make it like a cell phone where every application is regulated incompatible with your machine. Windows 10 will be for the life of your machine. Just like iOS or Android. Spartacus
