Can't Install COD4 again..IM SUICIDAL

HI All

My "C" drive got full...so I Reset Computer ( Long Story Short) went to install my COD 4  and will not go any further than the part where is UPDATING COMPONENT REGISTRATION.. .it didl accept the key codes and that's it...I have Java and all the other programs work well..please some help...Disk is Genuine since COD4 come out... Here are the messages I got...Ill appreciate the help please...2 Days without shooting anyone...I'm going bananas

Must peeps would like to know what operating system do you have. There maybe a work around for it.

Cyclic redundancy check means that the DVD drive can't read from the disc. It might be that the disc is scratched or maybe your DVD drive is failing. Try to copy the DVD content to the hard drive. If it copies, install from the hard drive. If you  see the CRC error again  you either need to replace the DVD or more likely, the disc is damaged and you'll need to borrow one to install with your registration no. Good luck.

Check your hard drive for errors too it may be trying to write in a bad sector

I don't know windows 10 so can you install in compatibly mode for xp?

Maybe wipe your cd/dvd rom and your disk with a damp cloth n case there is dust or something on them. I had that happen to me once. Sometimes all it takes is a small particle of something to mess stuff up.

If there is a problem with your disk a computer store can fix the disk like new.

You shouldn't need to run anything in compatibility mode etc. Get rid of the archaic disc and use a (legitimate) downloaded copy.

Holy crap $25 for a used copy on a game that is what 10 yrs old? Can I have a word with that seller? pweeeeeezzzzz? LOL

I tried connecting to the waw server a few times last night. Played 30 seconds and when the map changed it froze. It did it twice and I said screw it LOL I'll try again tonight.

Im waiting for that Cd to Arrive YACCster...and I will have a go..mY own original I can actually see a small scratch,,it could be the reason of not working...Thanks Mate

Thanks So Much for your tips..I did exactly what YACCster said...best toothpaste and all that..and when I went to Load the program..it happens the same thing..after the cleaning as YACCster tip..the Disc look as new..so I'm very worry now that the Second hand COD4 I bought(still due to arrive) it may not work and it could be my  PC ..when I reset The whole PC everything vanished..but I have been putting programs back into without having any problems

Here I put again the sequences of downloading...(Today is 4 days without shooting anyone...just imagen..is like life in hell..But Im not suicidal anymore Ill have a game first...lol)

If this disk that is on the way doesn't work..Ill get a new Computer...that's it...

as you see in the pictures the downloading was going fine til reached that updated component registration

Couple of things

 

1) There are two sides to the disc,  the label side (top) has a shiny under surface that if scratched can let the reading laser through and needs to be re-done/painted to be fixed, so that is another possibility.

 

2) Do you have a STEAM ID?  If not, can you set one up and install STEAM? http://steampowered.com

I did attend the front of the disk.cleaned no scratch,,run it ..loaded and again it stopped in the same place..this time took lot longer to give me the error;;

I just reopened Steam..I rarely use..but there it is..what do you want me to do with it..?/
