Okay how the hell do you set the boot priority?

I have tried and tried but can't seem to understand this. It looks so simple but the process seems to beyond me. I just need to know what to do and when to set it right.

What is the issue you are having?  You shouldn't have to set the boot priority unless you've changed the drive your OS (operating system) is running on.

If this is the case, boot priority is set within the motherboard's BIOS.

In the bios, which I assume is where you have tried to set it. Usually the cd/bd drive is set to first, then your C drive second.

need to know how many drives hooked to motherboard ? and what port are on

Something to consider. When I migrated my OS from the ssd onto an m2, but still had both hooked up, the bios or whatever would get confused and ignore the order set no matter what I did. It would still boot from the ssd first. When I disconnected it things went normally.

i would  check your CMOS Battery  cos when turn off computer is not keeping settings 

and will default to port0 on boot sequince

From what I recall, with possibly two O/S there, and no boot manager, you need to tell the computer through both bios and Disk Management which one has priority. I could Google it but better you do yourself as you will understand better. Because you used the old disk externally first the registry may think it's the main one?, remember logical drives etc you older farts? Doing it yourself with a bit of help with research lets you understand whats going on.

Remember what I told you earlier, in the BIOS write down original config and every change

question what media are using......a CDROM or USB stick that has OS instal files ?

also i would  check/verifi the motherboard's you are installing OS to the firmware 

when boot up hit the pause/break key to read first screen , should see it  or need to go in bios settings and look around .....by hitting DEL key when booting up  

Note  before looking need to know the motherboard's Revision , usally its written on MB as

Rev.X.xx  once know it go MB site can get correct Rev to you model of MB by search your model and Rev there  

save bios file on working desktop .... if zipped, unzip it to a USB stick that is foramtted to fat32 and place file in main director.  NOW STOP THERE an wait till we hook up on TS to walk you through . for me is available  apr 18  sunday afternoon  reason is this is very serious operation , if goes wrong end up with a DOA motherboard if not done correctly

  for  dual booting systems........ while in widows  hold shift and  restart

Depending on which brand you have.  You need to hit either F8 or F12 or F2 repeatedly to get into the BIOS.  Once you get into the BIOS you will have to go into the menu options and select Legacy boot and then sort the order to USB.  Once you set it to USB you will need to load the OS from there by pressing like F8 to select from USB Device.  Call me if you have any issues.  You got my number.

I used a USB stick that a friend made for me that does this kind of work.

Doesn't matter what port you plug it in. If it is set as the primary Active MBR it will boot from it 1st. Don't you just love (UEFI) bios? lol

Yep mine did the same when I put a new 1tb M.2 ssd in my PC until I disconnected my old SSD and later re-formated it.  There is a way to disable or deactivate the active MBR (Master Boot Record) on the other drive by using something like Acronis Disk Manager but that is the only way that I've found that actually works. Not sure if the free version of Acronis Disk Manager will let you do that. I downloaded a pirated pre-activated version.

My M.2 SSD utility does not work with my SSD even though they are both the same brand. Vice/versa with the SSD and M.2 SSD using the SSD toolbox. The diferances is the PCIE interface and the SATA interface are completely different animals.

check firmware of motherborad NOTE: make sure MB Rev matches file not Ver before any updating  if not match  you just shoved ford engine in a chevy and will have a blank screen 

reason manufactor uses same model name  with different  chip vendors  hence Revision

I am supposing this is not a brand name computer. I bought it since I got paid for stimulus and it was ready to go. Me being the idiot I am didn't realize just how much work it would require to set it up like I want it. All these specs are from Speccy!

Damn Dean I bought a already built Gamer Master PC by CyberPowerPC from Best buy a few months ago when my CPU and motherboard stopped working. I took it to a place in Redmond and they told me what was wrong for free since they didn't fix it. I use my PC for the same sort of stuff you do so I talked with them and they said don't throw new money into old shit start fresh. Talked to Loader about what he thought I would need and he did say don't get a 6 core processor, if your budget doesn't fit a 8 core get a good quality quad you can afford. The same PC was on sale at Newegg for &850.00 plus tax and shipping. I then took the new PC to the shop in Redmond and they pulled all my data, pictures, videos, music, documents everything off my old PC and installed it in the new one, installed up to date drivers for my new PC and made sure it was ready to plug and play even had the same desk top setup and Icons. They gave me back the parts off the old PC I want to keep like the graphics card, Ram, Power Supply and 1 TB back up hard Drive as well as the old one they pulled my stuff off since they didn't wipe it clean. They recycled the remaining parts and charged me $130.00 including tax for all that work and set up and it was done and I was playing COD2 Thru Steam that evening. I would have been in the exact same place as you if I hadn't found this place and told them up front what I use my PC for and what I expect it to do for me in the future. At my age this machine does way more than I will ever use or figure out and I have spare parts that work fine if my wifes PC takes a dive or the Kid and I decide to upgrade her rig a little. Let me know if you want those guys number he does really good work. Oh and my COD2 scores have gone up a good 40% even with my 100 ping and running the game via WiFi
