He also wrote other books on the LRP's in Nam. As for me Army Engineers, Ft Jackson, SC, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD, Ft. Sill, OK ( NCO Academy), Thailand, and finally Toul / Verdun France. Within a couple of seconds during a 9 gun salvo, there was 6,000lbs of powder going off and 24,300lbs of explosive ordinance headed down range. Just try and hide with 9 - 2,700lb shells incoming. I have the utmost respect for all of our Veterans. I've had lots of family in the military one grandfather in the Army WWI, the other in the Army Air Corps (pre-Airforce), Dad in the Signal Corps and civilian Gov (NSA) and then contracting for a total of 49 years, doing oversight of secure communications for the 89th and WHCA etc. and my bro in law who was in the first Iraq kerfuffle.
