Has the source of your tapwater been polluted by hormones?

I never drink unfiltered and unboiled tapwater and buy bottled water.

My main reason is that I dislike the smell and taste of chlorine that is

used to purify the water.  I would rather take my chances with the bacteria

(natural) than the chemicals and hormones (unnatural).  Spring water hasn't

already been consumed and excreted by another human...

I sort of knew and suspected this anyway, i'm pretty sure some of the cheaper bottled waters are from the tap anyway, but i do agree with Deejay over this, my tap water stinks and it tastes like shit...no lie, i spend a fortune every week on bottled waters,i buy 2 or 3, 5 litre bottles just for the kettle to make Tea or Coffee and i always have plenty of 2 Litre bottles around the house for normal drinking, they can trash bottled water as much as they like but until they sort the taste and the smell of tap water out i won't be drinking it anytime soon, our water companies will probably be privatised over here in the UK  now (another big fucking mistake but the government don't care as long as they keep receiving their backhanders) and i don't think they spend enough money or even care enough about the shit that comes out of our taps, when i first started going abroad about 36 years ago, we used to laugh at all these poor foreign country's like Spain who could not drink their own tap water, now the joke is on us and i believe it is all because of greed.  :wallbash:

Yes, SOB, they are all privatised now.

Ours was recently resold and changed its name (it doesn't make the water any better!).

Don't believe the cr*p about metered supply either - our bills went through the roof!

The company that takes the sewage away charges even more than the supply company.

I have been thinking about water filters for a while now, so how do you fix them to the taps, do we need a plumber or something for that?

Its really easy can you use a spanner ? if so no problem mate the inline ones are the easy ones to fit, just empty out your cupboard and it fits inline you may have to remove a section of copper pipe to fit it but its pretty easy and to change the filters is just a quick twist and pull. The water auto shuts off when the filter is removed so no leaks..

Its a good idea and will save you money in the long run..

Sure, some places have bad tap water, but bottled water in plastic can give you cancer from the chemicals in the plastic, especially if you reuse them. I only buy bottled water for convenience and so I don't have to clean my water bottle after usage. Your lifespan is Genetic, water is H2O, so why even worry about it, do whatever you want... you'll die eventually anyhow, get back to gaming.

SOB we have no taste in our water, that's why they rank it so high,Also no fluoride or chlorine. They spent all kinds of money way back when the zebra mussles invaded the great lakes. They use some type of ozone treatment."What the ozone does is remove that taste and odour,"

If some of you are freaked out by what's in your tap water there is a simple solution. Buy a reverse osmosis filtration system from around $100 (US). It's a filtration system that can quite literally turns sea water into drinking water. You can also buy de-chlorinator drops at your local pet store. One drop per gallon and "poof" the chlorine is instantly gone and it's safe for humans.

We buy bottled water for the convenience, not the taste. My kids take a bottle in their lunches and we'll grab a few bottles if we're taking a long drive. Other than that, it's tap water and ours tastes great. I have several thousand dollars of salt water fish, corals and other ocean critters that are swimming in straight tap water right now in my aquarium that has been de-chlorinated and salt added. If they can handle it so can my family.

I have a Pur filter on my kitchen tap, and run that into a Britta pitcher, so it's double filtered by two different manufacturer's filters.  The water here is very hard.  On its own it tastes mildly bad, but not horrible.  East-side Madison water was worse.  I generally don't detect a bad smell or chlorine in our water, but I did around the last time they reported slightly elevated, but still safe, biological contamination.  The double filtration cut through that and left the water tasting nice.

I do think charcoal filtering imparts a pleasant taste to the water.  I love the first few pitchers of water right after replacing the filters.  That new filter taste does fade after about a week or so, and I replace the filters about every 2 months.

LOL, we use nothing that doesn't go through our softener & reverse osmosis first. After seeing & meeting the morons that run our water department, I ran tests on the tap water available. PH off the scale & harder than a witches' tit. Really? Be advised, if you value your health, you'll look into things and take no one's word for the "quality" of your drinking water. And the Illinois EPA isn't to be relied upon as a quality inspector. Asked for a plant inspection, and they had the vendor that's responsible do an inspection on themselves. Wow, wish I could grade my own paper. Bottom line, it's your health, and the health of your family.

Our community (pop  300 ) just had a complete new $4.2 million dollar  water system installed and it still has the same smell as before. As Baldie suggested installing an inline filter system is easy and very low cost compared to buying bottled water.

Because the Bafoons that run our water district are unable to operate a brand new system to produce good NON tasting water 2 of my neighbors and I are seeking election to the board (5 member board, 3 seats available, 3 people running = slam dunk) Changes are coming to this towns water . . . . .

Never trust any air you can see . . . smog

Never trust any water you can smell and taste . . . . .nasty

Buddy of mine who's part of his land was bought by a natural gas company. He has videos showing that he can light up his faucet on fire.
