Help Please

OK, I installed Win10 this morning, now when I open COD4 it won't load and I get the iw3mp.exe error, please help!!!

Are you playing through steam?  If So, you will probably have one of the same issues I had. After a fresh Install of Win10. I did this: Run Steam> Install Cod4> Install PB> Run PB check> Restart Pc>Replace PB Folders> Run Cod4 Single Player> Switch to Multiplayer> Join Server> No errors yet.

 

But My game will tend to error out if I don't run Single player first, then switch to MP.  You also may want to consider these options: Running as Admin, Running in Compatibility, or Validating files in Steam.

Just fyi With in 30 days you can go back to 

your old operating system. There is a tab just for that.

 

 

And still update at a later date if you need to sort

somethings out..... Just a heads up.

You have to Disable Stereo Mix in your Microphone options and Reinstall PB.

No seriously you have to reinstall PB after installing or upgrading to Win 10.Everyone had to do it.Just download that Then right click on it and Select run as an Administrator. It only takes a few seconds to install.

It should not have uninstalled PUNKBUSTER but perhaps your settings are overwritten. However, you error doesn't seem like a punkbuster issue more like the Stereo Mix as someone pointed out above. Can you load the game with Optimal Settings?

Well now that issue has resolved itself, but I get kicked by punkbuster

Update:

 

I can get into Acemod fine and play.

 

When I connect to MW2 freezetag it either kicks me for service disonnect or i can connect and get kicked by PB and the error says communication error or something like that:punkbusterA.exe

 

I saw a post about punkbusterA vs punkbusterB.... does someone know if this is my problem and how to fix it?

i had the same issue with PB.  I think this is what I did to fix it.  I was trying several things at the same time, so this may or may not work lol.

Downloaded this:

Copy and paste the files into the punkbuster folder where the game is installed
This is where mine is:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Games\Call of Duty 4\pb

 

It will ask if you want to replace the files already there, say yes.

go find pbsvc.exe and download it run it and it will fix your pb ...this is how I fix it everytime and when it was kicking you gg it was saying pb b is not working meaning if u open this file you can reinstall it without doing anything else.

did you upgrade or do a fresh install if you upgraded go into the cod folder right click on the exe and run as administrator if you did a fresh install you might have to reinstall cod

GG  can you  alt-ctrl-del  to task manger and go to services  tab ...check for PnkBstrA and PnkBstrB  are they running in status

GG if you can't fix it... Role back the OS to what you had and wait for a solution.
