How to find a flat (2 or 3 rooms) to rent in New-York?

Hi guys! @New-Yorkers

One of my sons now lives in New-York (with his girl friend) where he found a job starting from April the 4th.

He is looking for an apartment to rent (Long Island City / Astoria / Sunnyside, metro: NW or E, budget: 3000/3300 $).

It is an emergency as he booked an AirBnB but only for one more week.

I understand that it is difficult for American people to find a flat to rent and, of course, even more difficult for French guys!

Could anybody help them to find it plz? Or has any idea or any lead?

I know someone who has a closet (er, flat, lol,  1 br) in Manhattan, I will contact him.  He is moving to Charleston, SC as he now can work from anywhere.  Would Manhattan work?  (It is really close to Grand Central Station, which is so cool.)

Thks Basil! In fact my son and his girl friend both work/study in Manhattan but did not search there because it is too expensive with 2 or 3 rooms (i.e. a living room + 1 or 2 bedrooms).

So, they looked around Manhattan. They found in Astoria a 3 rooms flat with 2 bedrooms.

Of course, near Grand Central would have been great but a closet is too small  Thanks anyway for having answered to my request!
