I have a Radeon 4870 that manages 91FPS in CoD WaW (but probably a lot lot less in Crysis...).  It was a mid-range card but can now be bought for around £100.

When shopping for a new card, I make a shortlist then go hunting for comparative reviews online.  That strategy has worked to date.

one sapphire 5770 vapor x will run crysis at max on average 30-40 fps granted you have a good cpu and ram. crossfired will be over 60 frames most of the time. and these are 128 bit cards im running, which I think I should have gone for 256 in the long run, but these cards are quiet, cool, and powerful, and will run any game currently out on high/max  no problem

I'm not too sure Markoff maybe one of our hardware gurus here can say it better then me. But some MB work better or if you wish some video cards work beter with some MB. So post your MB type and see what kinda answer ya get then . I for one like keeping the same chip sets across my little builds.

I just bought a NVDIA Geoforce 9400 GTS, 512 mb for my grandson's computers for $37.00 plus shipping, brand new on ebay. Runs quiet and does a very good job. I don't know how to check the frames per minute. So I can't tell you that. Check on Ebay, that is what one computer store in town told me when they didn't have anything but expensive ones. I know that I don't know that much about computers anymore, but I know a good deal. Good Luck.

i have a step up from that bushape mine is a Nvidia evga gforce 9800gts 1 gig that came with percision over clock tool

in game i run fr0m 120 to 200 frames per sec so im happy with that .....But hell yeah we could all use a free gfx card or pc for that matter Wizid ..BRING IT ON!!!

I have 2 of them in crossfire and I can play Crysis Wars on very high settings with 1920 x1080  with 40 to 60 fps

one of them should be enough to play on high settings

but turn down your settings while playing online for better performance

Ok my 2 cents. I am currently undertaking a build and after much research on gpu's i decided on a Gigabyte HD5850 OC. I got this card for $415 NZD which is just shy of your 200 GPB upper budget. I also had the same budget, i looked at the Vapor-x which as everyone is saying is a good card but i wanted a bit more i mean if you can get a better card and still not blow your budget then surely thats the thing to do right? The 5850 will run at 5870 core and mem speeds with a gentle tweak which is part of the reason i choose it as i want a 5870 but couldnt fit it into the budget. PLEASE DO NOT GET A 5830!!! That was another card i looked at i read alot of reviews on this card and the general concensus was that a 5830 is not well suited for gaming, in benchmark testing it fell behind alot of lesser cards including the 5770. For those that dont know the 5830 is a 5870 with its balls cut off and clothed in a pink dress, in short its a gpu that was built to be a 5870 but didnt make the quality binning requirements so they looked to bridge the gap between the 5770 and 5850 and thus the 5830 was born. Also look for one with a decent cooler the benifits out weigh the small increase in price. Last but not least get a card that is 256bit, you can get them in your price range and is a little more future proof. Sorry this went on for a bit LOL hope it helps you God knows i spent many hours researching before i came to a decision. Research is the key then you know what you are getting. Cheers!

I have Radeon 5830 it runs directx 11, Radeon cards were all ready for direct 11 long before it was released unlike nvidea etc.

I have to admit I really love the vapor-x cooling because its the best and quietest I ever had

 

for sure both of them are great cards for a single card system

 

my 5770 CF still kicks ass for the price

as fast as one single 5870 without oc....

 

btw Markoff I think you have a GTX 260 now?

the 5770 will be as fast as your old card

the new nvidia  GTX460 will be a little faster... +10-15%

the 5850 another 15-20%
