It's a bit of a story, but if anyone has any ideas on how to fix, or if it can be fixed it would be appreciated.

So I was playing a slots game on facebook, set it on auto and went outside for a smoke. got a win while I was out and it puts up a big overlay that says how much the win is.

I have my smoke, Im afk for maybe 5 mins or so, not very long. come back and continue playing, notice the screen is kinda flickery while im playing so I close the window and notice that the overlay picture is still in the background, but kinda faint like maybe 20% opacity

Now it appears to be burnt in. WTF?

I have tried, turning off and leaving off for a while. Removing ssd and dropping in a different OS to make sure it wasnt a windows thing, Removing ram and swapping, and restoring windows to an earlier restore point. So im pretty sure its a monitor issue, unless the gpu could have somehow caused it.

This is a less than 6 month old 27" AOC 1440p monitor, I couldnt find anything on the interwebs that was helpful at all.

Anyone have any ideas?, cause I dont have a clue whats going on.

Try finding a different temp monitor or TV and see if the problem goes away as it sounds like a monitor issue rather than comper issue

Hallo!

Try use this program to fix the burn pixels

I did same with mine lol and now is as new.

You have only to run the program several time over full screen or over just the burned pixels. Read the how to in their website and download from here:

When you load up CoD4 the image is still there? If so, then it is definitely a monitor issue. Call AOC support, it should still be under warranty!

My old 50" plasma TV has a screen burn removal thing in Options. All it is, is a white screen with thick scrolling black lines. Let it run for about 5-10 minutes and it's usually good.

It's usually the Channel logo that burns in on my old Plasma TV. I love the picture quality on that old thing but it easily gets screen burn. I had a big Cartoon Network logo burnt in the corner the other day. My Niece was over for the weekend and she likes watching cartoons lol.

I Will contact the guys I bought it from next week, hopefully get it replaced. Its just weird how an image can be burnt in after only a few minutes and on a fairly new monitor.  Something must be properly wrong with it.

Definitely one of the strangest computer issues I have ever had. I suppose I should be grateful its an innocuous image thats stuck on the screen.

This only means you have to quit smoking 🙂

the old CRT monitor fix was open cover and a hot shower to remove the nicotine then a week to dry, worked fine

Can you imagine if you'd bought it from @RobMc?

you might have to run this many times depending on how burnt in it is, might take days?  BUT it works... kinda... just depends on how bad the burn in is.

ALSO, find other similar ones like this and try them, switch it up.  GOOD LUCK  (We ended up buying a new TV as we realized we could use a bigger and better TV in that room than that one we just fixed using this trick.  SO donated it.)
