My grandfather landed on Omaha on D-Day. He was in the 1st. Division, 16th Infantry, L Company. About 1/4 of his company made it to the beach. Of that, only about 30 men made it to the top to capture WN 60 at the top of what is called the F-1 draw. His Lieutenant earned the Congressional Medal of Honor (posthumously). One of only two awarded that day.
