It’s that time of year. Made a double batch of HOT CROSS BUNS today. Dropped them off to 4 different relatives. Here are a few pictures. They are made with a white flour yeast bread. Filled with raisins and currents ( you can use any dried fruit) spiced with Mixed spice and cinnamon. I glazed them with sugar water and fresh lemon juice for a sweet/tart kick. The crosses are powdered (icing) sugar with water and the fresh lemon juice and a bit of Vanilla. A very big hit here. They’re a big sweet in the UK during lent or the Easter season.

We finally have a date and location for >XI< Fest 2023 Sept 6-10 Gatlinburg Tennessee If you are interested in going please message Rugger, Yaccster or Wld Penguin and we will get you added to the group on the website and whatsapp and give you all the details 2. The arcade received a little update and we were able to add 9 new games, give them a try and see if you can beat your fellow members You can find the arcade menu at the top of the website 3. I've received a few requests about accepting Venmo as a form or payment to donate to the clan, I'm happy to say we have now one have. Just one thing when using Venmo, put a note telling your member name. One more thing we added to make it easier for people to donate is QR codes for both Paypal and Venmo, you will see them on the website, just scan them with your phone camera and it will take you to the donation site. 4. There is a new free game that is coming out on Steam called "Operation Harsh Doorstep" that we will be supporting and hopefully getting servers for, we can also mod and create new maps for this game. Download it and check it out. Hope to see you all at the Fest this year!

Event: Winter Storm Watch Alert: ...MAJOR WINTER STORM TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY... .A major winter storm will bring significant travel impacts across the region. Most locations can expect to see at least a foot of snow by the time it ends Thursday night. The worst conditions will be Wednesday evening through Thursday, as heavy snow combines with northeast wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph, with some areas in western Minnesota seeing gusts near 50 mph. This will lead to significant drifting snow, and whiteout conditions in open areas. A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect for portions of central and southern Minnesota and west central Wisconsin where impacts will be lesser with the initial snow band Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning. Additional accumulating snow will arrive with the main storm Wednesday afternoon that will require an upgrade of this Winter Storm Watch. A Winter Storm Warning is now in effect for portions of western and southern Minnesota and most of the Twin Cities Metro. Forecast confidence is high that 4 to 7 inches of snow will fall Tuesday PM into Wednesday AM with the initial round of snow. The snow will lighten up Wednesday morning, but then widespread heavy snow will develop later on Wednesday afternoon as the main storm arrives. This main storm is expected to bring near an additional foot of snow to most locations, with higher amounts possible across south-central Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Thanks @RobMc the recipe i copied and butchered from John Kirkwood's YouTube channel, I highly recommend his channel. He is a fantastic cook from the north of England. Here's the link bellow. Here in this part of Canada all our HCB's are frosted. I skipped his lemon zest and added lemon juice to my glaze and frosting. Locally we use raisins and currents. Last year I ran short of R&C so I added a few candied cherries (worked great but been a long time since we old farts set eyes on a cherry)

By the way Wayne, just for info, most of our commercially sold hot cross buns don't have icing, the cross is made of bread too, they are best with sultanas, raisins and currants tend to go hard in oven.

My neighbor took me fishing yesterday. Pyramid Lake is about 45 minutes from home. This lake is a world class fishin spot. Lahonton Cutthroat Trout get as big as 50 pounds! The last fish caught by me was a ten pounder, what a thrill!! We landed about fifteen, all catch and release. Those two pictures are of a steam vent at the north end of the lake.
