Dear Dr.

Phil,

When I retired, I could hardly wait to spend time [/indent]

enjoying my favorite pastime -- bass fishing. I got

my own little fishing boat and tried to get my wife

to join me, but she just never liked fishing.

Finally, one day at the Bait & Tackle Shop, I got to

talking to Sam, the shop owner, who it turned out

loves bass fishing as much as I do. We quickly

became fishing buddies. As I said, the wife doesn't

care about fishing. She not only refuses to join us,

but she always complains that I spend too much time fishing.

A few weeks ago, Sam and I had the best fishing

trip ever. Not only did I catch the most beautiful

bass you've ever seen, only a few minutes later

Sam must have caught his twin brother!

So I took a picture of Sam holding up the two nice

bass that we caught and showed the picture to the

wife hoping that maybe she'd get interested. Instead

she says she doesn't want me to go fishing at all

anymore! And she wants me to sell the boat! I think

she just doesn't like to see me enjoying myself.

What would you do? Tell the wife to forget it and

continue my hobby or quit fishing and sell the boat

as she insists?

Thanks,

Fishing Fool

P.S. Enclosed is a picture of Sam with the two

bass we caught.

In Minnesota, 1 week of fishing after July, should lead to a Nice Fish! 20- 40 hours of fishing should be enough.. Statewide anywhere really, up to middle of October..We are lucky up here in that sense, lotsa lakes, lots of Muskys..

I know that lake can be awesome, but this guide service sounds lame, TROLLING? what about casting, thats what most minnesotans do, cast to a rock or weededge, have a follow and hook em on a figure 8 at boatside. trolling is boring.

That's the only way they do it around here.Lot of times the fish are just sunning themselves and are laying right on top of the water and the damn things won't go after anything.A lot of times in the spring you catch them while jigging for Walleye cause the muskies are in there chomping down on the walleye and that's when the walleye stop bitin. Also those muskies are slimy and slime up your boat.I'm not sure but I think they have to be at least 42" to keep them if you want to mount them. But anyways that is quite a fish you have there.Congrats.Just wish we had a lot of little lakes like you do in Rugger Land.We just have the Detroit river and Lake St.Clair (not a great lake) and Lake Erie(never really heard of any muskie being caught there)Maybe where the river empties into the lake.

Minnesota is one of the best places to live anywhere, if your an outdoorsman. Great fishing, hunting and Snowmobiling and 4 wheeling.

The only problem here is too many liberals..= too many taxes....
