I'm playing along and my monitor gives me the white screen of death. I never heard of this! I go buy another video card and power up computer and I still have nothing on my monitor, so how in the hell am I suppose to fix it? LOL I do have 120 volts to power plug. Not so sure but I think it might be my power supply. Need a pin out to check for voltages I guess. Antek 500 watt power supply.

PS

I hate computers

Perhaps not the computer at all but the monitor? Do you have another monitor you can use to test? Or connect it up to your tv.

GTX 550 Tried a different monitor. Don't even get a boot screen. Can hear the windows sound after it boots up though. Do the drivers for the card load auto or do I have to use the disk?

Beers what ever you do DO NOT open you monitor in any fashion of the word. Monitors builds up a tremendous bit of electricity and they do not have a big release so don't even think about that unless maybe you really have TOO MANY BEERS!

Getting the 12 volts to the plug on the video card. When I put the other HP monitor on it comes up with a box in the middle of the screen that says no signal. That tells me my power supply is lighting up the back light.

I would start with downloading an ubuntu live disk and burning it to a dvd or usb stick. Plug it into your dead computer and boot from the dvd . If it works its your copy of windows thats messed up. IIf it doesn't start I'd plug your old video card into your second computer and start it up to see. If it fails start it up in safe mode if it fails and you add the card you removed and fire it up and it stqrts it would be your video card. Is your card plugged in ?? . There's more try those out and post . If its not one of them zI suppose you caould try out the power supply but its more then likely the MB if your video fails like that. HAving said that good night.

You did plug in the secondary power connector on that 550, right? I forgot to do that once, and I think it resulted in no video. Booted otherwise, I think. At least I don't remember getting diagnostic beeps from the BIOS. It really does sound like a monitor problem, though - unless you've verified the monitor works on another computer. Can you access the monitor's built-in menu? And that power supply sounds weak for a system with a 550 in it. I'd recommend a 750W at least. I have an intel I7-950 overclocked to 4.2GHz with an MSI GTX560TX-Ti, and I'm probably close to the limit with my 750W, but its never once shut down on me.

Yes right never mind cause it ain't fixed. I took my monitor over to my working computer and backlight is working. Had a no HMDI cable fault but thats cause there isnt one. Plugged it back into the non working computer and everything came up but later went back out with a green screen of death. Took computer out to blow dust out of it and when I plugged everything back up I had no power what so ever. I think power supply again.

When I hit my power button I see the lights flash one time on the mother board but nothing comes on.

Mother board is a Gigabyte FSB 1600 OC/1333

DDRII 1200 OC.1066

Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L

Video Card is a GTX 550 TI GDDR5 1GB PCIe 2.0
