Lance Armstrong finally admitted he was on the juice when he won 7 Tour de France titles. One of his sponsors was the US Postal Service. Would you send his ass to jail?

i did not understand what he did to win since it was not detected ever. Him pumping blood in his body to help with fatigue.

I think he should loose every dime he has earned having to do with his wins. Like the post office... every dime.

He is worth some 100 million dollars. I would like to see all that taken away.

I supported him over and over due to the allegations over the years. And him beating cancer... he became a hero to many coming back and winning again.

Sports have very little credibility left. You just dont know who is cheating and who is just a great player like MJ.

Jail... not sure. Rather seem him poor first.

Lying and cheating seem to be the norm in our world today. The postal service paid him 10 milliion to put their logo on his shirt. As far as I can tell he fulfilled his obligation to them. He never guaranteed he would win or that he would win without cheating. In fact there were allegations of cheating before the USPS was his sponsor. They got what they paid for as far as I'm concerned.

People lie for financial gain and for attention. We had two XI members lie about one of them having cancer. Politicians and lawyers lie every day of their professional lives. The former CEO of Yahoo lied about his college degree and was fired for it.

For whatever reason, lying has become easier than telling the truth in our world. It sucks, but there isn't much any of us can do about it, other than telling the truth.

So what if he was juiced. So were most of the other top 3 finishers every year he won

Being stripped of his wins i understand but putting him in jail there is no point

if you put him in jail then you would have to put everyone else who juiced in jail also

Scroll down, read it and weep if you are a cycling fan.

The greatest American cyclist remains Greg Lemond. And the world's current greatest is probably Cadel Evans who has multiple top 3 finishes in the TdF with no positive tests and no implications. Carlos Sastre is another who was robbed his entire career, apparently.

I agree, lying is one thing but lying under oath is called perjury or forswearing. I have always been a big fan of Armstrong as a sportsman and as a person who came back from Cancer. I was even on his side when he denied doping allegations and fought everyone who dared calling him a cheater. Looks like one of his sponsors interviewed him in 1998, and he denied, under oath that he was cheating and that he would ever cheat. Not sure whether it was the US Postal Service or not...

He sued a British newspaper for defamation when they accused him of doping. He won, and had to pay. He needs to re-pay them with interest, legal fees, damages, and suffer any penalty relating to his perjury. Any instance where he lied under oath should be dealt with under the law. If there are any US laws requiring penalties for doping in sports, try him in an open court. His celebrity should have no factor in this. Try him for law violations like any one else would be tried.

I hate cheaters in-game! But there is nothing worse than "real-life-cheaters" like Armstrong.

If one of US would cheat on other people, companies or authorities we would get punished with fine or imprisionment.

He stole milliions and i suggest he is not able to pay all the money back and finally he destroyed the reputation of all other racers and the whole bike sports.

I see no reason why he should NOT go to jail?

FU Lance Armstrong!

I agree. The whole lot of them were doping. Armstrong was just a better doper I guess that got caught, key is caught. He was stripped of his titles, can make him pay back his winnings, but jail time in my opinion does not fit the crime. Look at how many athletes have been caught doping in one sport or another, maybe getting lifetime bans, fines, but I don't recall jail time. Look at guys like McGwire who were definitely doping and still retained his status.

But that's just my 2 cents.

A large lesson that should be learned by all is that celebrity should not be worshipped.

We've been confronted over here with the revelation that a highly popular DJ and TV presenter

abused kids over six decades. He's dead so can't be tried and punished. He raised millions

for charities but it seems his endeavours were a cover for his sexual predation. That wipes out

all the joy we felt when we saw the good things on TV.

Just saying...winning the tour de france as many times as he did is a testament to his dedication regardless of the ethical choices he made. Just because someone is doping doesn't enable them to achieve what he did. Questioning his athletic abilities would be naive.

Sending him to jail for lying about doping just equates to needing to send the thousands of other athletes who continue to lie about dopingto jail as well.

Personally I have never been a fan of spectator sports. They are among the highest paid individuals in our country, yet they contribute very little to society beyond entertainment value. Sure they have talent in their respective fields, but I see no reason to pay them more than anyone else who puts in the same effort. (I like the analogy someone made between football players and soldiers...pretty appropriate comparison).
