Texas has "The Castle Doctrine" and he was outside the owners home with no aggressive actions. If he attempted to pull out a wrench or a hammer to attack the homeowner he could have been shot with no repercussions to the home owner. Kudos for the restraint this homeowner showed. Clearly they are already of a mind to flirt with - and defy - the law. Sorry. I forgot that licensed AK-47 owners didn't drink beer or smoke pot. I could say a lot because there is so much wrong information in the news story you posted as well as your comment about the "licensed AK-47 owners". I'll keep it short though since you will shrug off what I say anyways. You trolled this thread and that is wrong. You should have posted your news link in your own thread, so we could all set the fact's straight in the proper thread. Second it doesn't take a license to purchase or own a semi-automatic AK variant rifle. "Compare for yourself, a normal rifle bullet against the ammo for the AR-15 of similar caliber" Third I would like you to find a cartridge manafacturer that labels a specific cartridge as "normal". You won't find one, because the term was made up by a journalist. The picture shows a 22LR vs a .223 or 5.56 caliber round. I know this because I own rifles that shoot both calibers. While the diameter or caliber of the projectile is close to the same, the powder charge, casing size and bullet weight varies drastically. That is why the 22LR is used for target shooting/hunting small game and the .223 or 5.56 is a load used for target shooting/taking medium sized game and humans. They are comparing apples and oranges. Is it morally right? Well, that has to be a decision everyone makes for themselves. I'm no expert on Texas law, and there's probably some constraints.

Having a differing opinion is not trolling. Certainly the presentation was slanted given the source, but nonetheless, easy access to whatever firepower you want plus easy access to beer plus dumbfuck stupidity (even without alcohol) equals disaster. The valid point in the article is that AK-47 and similar weaponry have bullets that will penetrate residential walls and need to be used responsibly and in a controlled manner. The ethical issues around such firepower being available to civilian hands boggles the mind. Fun quote from NRA President, Karl Frederick from 1934: "I do not believe in the general promiscuous toting of guns. I think it should be sharply restricted and only under licenses". @#$% rights-thieving liberal! Edited January 19, 2013 by Astronomer Awards
