I actually was terrified to play online. Then my son bought me COD4 and reluctantly after a while I decided to try this magic they called online gaming in servers you actually was able to control and mod as you seen fit. The first player who I remember that called me by the old Bigmeandean" was 2cuteSue. Incidentally he also gave me my first taste of blood  by slicing their testies off of them.  Today I fell very protective of that server and basically ever since it's been my server! Lol! I have been told by several that I was known as Mr Acemod! Well be it true or not it still was an honor to be felt that way about. If this game had never made it big like it did I would never have gotten the game and I would never have played online!

Delta force- Black Hawk Down , I think its still the greatest game for that period.  This game would still be awesome if they revamped the graphics.  The Maps tool was fairly easy, most clans had Map making teams to create new environments to play in without much restriction as to what you could create.

Well, Doom on a LAN, but Quake/Quakeworld for online FPS.  But I was playing MUDs online before there were games online with pictures. :)

Mine was a game that used to be hosted on the MSN gaming netwrok then went out on its own called Fighter Ace, was a multiplayer WWII flying game. 1st version gave you choice of US, British, German, or Russian with 4 WWII planes for each country to choose from. There was FFA arenas where it was every man for himself, ya spawn back in the air when you get shot down, no time limits, just ongoing action non stop. Then there was the team arenas where each country has 2 bases to take off from, you spawn there when shot down. I was very proficiant in the german 109k... Could take out spit XIV's with ease at 37,000 ft. sucked ass anywheres below that. And the russian Yak3 for slow dogfighing turn and burn fights at the deck. The game eventualy evolved to the point of adding in Japan and Italy with about 30 planes from each country including bombers and even the 1st rocket plane introduced into WWII by the Germans the ME262 if i remember correctly. It was a pay to play game that went from 5.99 a month to play to 35 by the time they were done. The game folded because honestly, whos gonna pay 40 after taxes a month to play an online game??? Thats when i found MOHAA and became a fan of that series and when COD1 came out i moved to here and have been in COD since

I remember a couple of cool turn-based BBS games - one was a space game. Esterian Conquest maybe? And the other was some game where you collected mana to level up. Can't remember the name of that one. You would have to demon dial the BBS to get in so you could make your turns. That space game was epic. One turn per day. After awhile your turns might take you an hour or more to execute.

Snipes on Novell Netware.  Not really "online" per se, but multi-user, yes.  On the LAN not the Internet since we didn't really have the internet like we do today.  Back then, the best we had was services like the original Compuserve.

BBS's were cool. I was the File OP on the SinBin in Baltimore MD. I helped wire in 7 of the lines from 1 making 8 Hayes Modems. Getting Violet in Lord to have sex with me was the best. She really liked me. lol

Never heard of that but netware ROCKS. I downloaded 3.12 not long ago. Going to do a VMWare to mess around with it. Last I touched of Netware was 6.5. I had to support over 380 severs remote servers plus the inhouse servers. NDS was the shit but you had to maintain connectivity.

In early 3.12 before 4.0 came out we had boot disks with the minimum needed to play on LAN 4 player Doom then Doom2. What a blast. No one else around was doing it. Played for HOURS and HOURS. They got pissed because I started to wax everyone's asses. hahaha

Miss the LAN party days. Mountain Dew and all nighter of playing different games at the same time. Them are the days. Like an XI fest whenever we wanted.

First on-line from home, Call of Duty 2. But way before that at work on LAN we started with Duke Nukem, then later Unreal Tournament and Half Life. Played many others since, but still totally addicted to the COD series! Who remembers Pong on Intellevision (telling my age now)!! My how it's come a long way since then!!

Medal of Honor allied assault in 2002. Some lad lent it to me and we found out how to make multiplay on gamespy. Lots of people I worked with all got together to play and that was it, Hooked! Then I met my Favorite gaming buddies @@Grumpy_Git_Git (always be Bammer to me)and @@basil who I still play online with. basil introduced me to Cod4FT on g13 and then brought me to a server full of idiots :) never play anywhere else since
