There's a server var that tells the client to not use the steam name. I think the cod4x client tries to mimic other steam games that use the steam name in the game. Are you available to test this? I don't have a steam installation of this game.

My good bud and his band have just released a new album, He used to be the lead singer of Canadian rock band Monster Truck, he left them a couple years ago and formed his new band The Wild High (with help from me! Yea I took a look but couldn't find anything that specified using my steamname, even the /name from the console showed my normal set name, but it kept using the steam profile name. %localappdata%\CallofDuty4MW Easier way of writing that

Sweet. I should have waited for this valuable reply. Had only an hour to play in my lunch break, hence took some URGENT actions. And I have SUCCESSFULLY managed to reset all the settings viaFUCKING steam, and now my rank is BIG F ONE, and I ended up on version 1.8 with no XI map visible. Hahahahaha. Downgrades to 1.7 (thanks to @loADERJr>XI<'s file) and will sort the rest later. Thanks again, sweet bro

You do not need to place the EXE installer in your game folder. It's a regular installer it will work from anywhere. COD4x Manual Install/Uninstall Now, download the manual installer/uninstaller from here : http://74.91.119.86/cod4xclient/cod4xclient.zip Put the unzipped folder in your game installation folder and then run uninstall.cmd - this will uninstall COD4x from your game. Once this works test that you can join the server. To install you only need to run install.cmd from the same folder. I have tested both installers on a non-steam game and it works without any issues.

Okay, something is off. I've placed the exe file in the COD4 folder and installed. Since then, I can't join the game and am stuck on the following step. Any help plz? can join other servers but not our XI MW2 FT 146

No, but its a known behavior. COD4x creates a new profile in. However, I am trying a server VAR, are you available for testing? I don't have STEAM and I can't test this. C:\Users\[YOUR WINDOWS USER NAME]\AppData\Local\CallofDuty4MW
