i was a cavalry scout in the army, ive been staioned in germany, korea and ft lewis wa. and 3 real world deployments.

USAF 1st Fighter Wing, Air Combat Command HQ, 71st Fighter Squadron F-15 avionics specialist stationed at Langley AFB Virginia. Was deployed to King Aziz Airport in Baharain for Operation Southern Watch, Rakavick AFB Iceland for Operation Bear watch for Russian bombers.

Those of you in Recon might like reading the Six Silent Men series based on LRP's in Nam. 3 Books, 3 authors one of which whose name I recall was Gary Linderer. He also wrote other books on the LRP's in Nam.

 

As for me Army Engineers, Ft Jackson, SC, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD, Ft. Sill, OK ( NCO Academy), Thailand, and finally Toul / Verdun France. All good duty.

I was an enlisted terminal attack controller in th USAF from 1994-1998. Stationed at Fort Carson, CO. Worked with the 3rd ACR and 10th SFG.

Navy - 89-92 - Gunnery schools in Great Lakes ILL, Yorktown Va and Damneck Va - stationed @ Norfolk Va - Gunners Mate - Battleship Wisconsin BB-64 - Desert Shield / Desert Storm. Within a couple of seconds during a 9 gun salvo, there was 6,000lbs of powder going off and 24,300lbs of explosive ordinance headed down range. Just try and hide with 9 - 2,700lb shells incoming. US Marines 94-98 Stationed at Kaneohe Bay Hawaii Fox Co. 2nd Battalion 3rd Marine Regiment. I was a Machine Gunner in the weapons platoon and carried a pretty sweet M240G No combat though.

First and foremost thank you all for your service to our country and her allies! I have the utmost respect for all of our Veterans.

 

I've had lots of family in the military one grandfather in the Army WWI, the other in the Army Air Corps (pre-Airforce), Dad in the Signal Corps and civilian Gov (NSA) and then contracting for a total of 49 years, doing oversight of secure communications for the 89th and WHCA etc. and my bro in law who was in the first Iraq kerfuffle.

 

Kudos to your families as well "They also serve who only stand and wait."
