So far I am liking Win 10.  As well, a nice cool feature to have without added software is the multi monitor support for a taskbar on each monitor.

Question for all you experts. I've installed windows 10 on my laptop successfully and during the installation I was never given an option for a different directory to install it on. On my laptop I don't really care. But when I do this on my main PC my current C Drive that has windows 8.1 installed on it is only a 50gig SSD. I also have a 250 gig SSD that I would like to have windows 10 installed on. So my question is, is there anyway to update windows 8.1 to windows 10 onto a different directory? basically read what it needs to know from 8.1 directory and install windows 10 on a different one. Your brilliant input would be great.

Isn't there an option to do that? Or clone it?

Btw guys I found this: From : https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/3f38ed/guide_how_to_disable_data_logging_in_w10/

Before/During Installation

  • Do not use Express Settings. Hit Customize, and make sure everything is turned off.
  • It's strongly preferred that you use a local account with Windows 10.

After Installation

  • Head to Settings > Privacy, and disable everything, unless there are some things you really need.
  • While within the Privacy page, go to Feedback, select Never in the first box, and Basic in the second box.
  • Head to Settings > Update and Security > Advanced Options > Choose how updates are delivered, and turn the first switch off.
  • Disable Cortana by clicking the Search bar/icon.
  • (Optional) Disable web search in Search by going to Settings, and turning off Search online and include web results.
  • Change the name of your PC by going to Start (or hitting the Windows key), typing About PC, and clicking Rename PC.

Slightly Complex

  • Open up the Command Prompt by launching cmd as an administrator, and enter the following:

sc delete DiagTrack
sc delete dmwappushservice
echo "" > C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Diagnosis\ETLLogs\AutoLogger\AutoLogger-Diagtrack-Listener.etl

  • Open up the Group Policy Editor by launching gpedit.msc as an administrator. Go through Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Data Collection and Preview Builds. Double click Telemetry, hit Disabled, then apply. NOTE: This only truly works in the Enterprise edition, but the final step provides a decent enough workaround for Pro users.
  • While still in the Group Policy Editor, go through Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > OneDrive, double click Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage, hit Enabled, then apply.
  • While still in the Group Policy Editor, go through Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Defender, double click Turn Off Windows Defender, hit Enabled, then apply.
  • Open up the Registry Editor by launching regedit as an administrator. Go through HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\DataCollection, select AllowTelemetry, change its value to 0, then apply.
  • First, download the Take Ownership tweak and enable it. Then, head to the Hosts File by going through C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc, take ownership of the hosts file, and add all of the IPs from this page into the file.

Up To You

  • Replace Microsoft Edge/Internet Explorer with Firefox, Chromium, or any forks/variations of them.
  • Replace Windows Media Player with VLC or MPC-HC
  • Replace Groove Music with Foobar2000, Winamp, or MusicBee.
  • Replace Photos/Windows Photo Viewer with ImageGlass or IrfanView.

About MS Accounts and Win 10:

To answer my earlier question myself ... Apparently you can still install Win10 with a local account - good.

On the page where you can login with your MS Account click "Don't have an account" and on the next page choose "local account" - or install Win10 disconnected from the internet.

No MS Account needed - that means no data being sent to MS SpyDrive.

If you have already installed 10 with MS account and you don't want that, you can disconnect from it in the user settings and create a local account.

If you want to use the Store you will need a MS Account.. but yea you don't need one.

Your brilliant input would be great.

Once you have upgraded to 10 you can delete the Windows.old file by running Disk Cleanup utility as an Administrator, this will free up 20+Gb of disk space and remove the ability for you to Rollback to win7/8.1. Also once the upgrade is complete you can retrieve your windows 10 key and use it to format and install a Full Windows 10 on  whatever hard drive/directory you want to use.

Check out some other forums before you take actions. As for here, sure you get some help, but it gets buried in pages.

We also don't want to be responsible for issues or Pirated copies to be having a claim on our ass, if some moron post here, some stupid shit. We can not follow all the posts that has or will be posted at >XI<.

And as far as a new Game or OS comes out, we will have some "help needed" game related issues, but not an OS itself. If you know what I mean.

As far as your Win10 copy, the activation servers are still very busy. You can try to spam the activation on the same machine.

As far I've seen is that you have to get or dig into the key to get it or not. As for me(hence hardware key on the same machine),

I highly doubt to use the WIn10 for daily usage for myself. But maybe nice for games to reboot, start the OS from other drive and run it.

You don't want to know, after Win7 install date 05-10-2012(screenshot below) what is still working. O read many problems for now and the UI.

What is still working. They should add DX12 to Windows 7, like they added DX11 in Vista.

Can you try COD4 in Compatible mode to XP or something.

This might be one for our knowledge base if PB needs to be run from an other folder or parameters.
