Steam.... Sorry Mark. Don't know much about how Steam works but almost sounds like maybe a memory issue of sorts?? Hopefully someone here will have a clue, I've never seen that type of error before. Perhaps try uninstalling the game and Steam and re-installing both. Also check to, make sure you don't have any other version of COD5 installed (ie. from the disk I mean).
